[Priestess cosplay] Arknights: Photoshoot Experience of the White-Coated Researcher

Wearing this Priestess cosplay outfit from Arknights was genuinely an endurance test; with various clasps and layered designs, I felt constantly constricted during the hours of shooting. The white shirt, the lightweight white outer coat, paired with that iconic large bow tie and the ID badge on the chest, are theoretically classic daily Anime-style fashion elements. Yet once fully suited up, not only did I have to prevent stains in outdoor settings, but I also had to constantly mind the flow of the garment creases. The ID badge in particular required precise positioning; hanging too low or tilting would ruin the overall demeanor, so I adjusted it multiple times before securing it in a spot that was prominent yet didn't hinder movement. Although the coat fabric is lightweight, in sultry weather, the sensory burden of layering was undeniable. Moreover, to faithfully recreate the character's tailored texture, several invisible snaps were concealed inside, requiring delicate care when dressing and undressing to avoid tearing the seams.

To capture Priestess's mysterious yet dedicated researcher demeanor, I deliberately wore light-colored contact lenses paired with cool-toned blue-gray eye makeup, which was quite a challenge. The character's sense of detachment and professionalism cannot be achieved by eyeliner alone; facial contouring was essential to brighten the mid-face and give the features a cooler presence. For the wig, I selected dark brownish-black straight hair with bangs. The hair strands are silky, but maintaining this sleek straight styling on a windy outdoor day required frequently smoothing the bangs down to keep them from blowing apart. The pairing of hair color and pupil shade was fascinating, though there was a noticeable color discrepancy between ambient lighting and the camera lens. In Photo 4, holding the clipboard under strong overhead lighting slightly diminished the makeup's color saturation, requiring repeated adjustments to the lighting angle on site.

I visited several distinct scenes for this Casual cosplay photoshoot. Photo 1 was taken in the car while rushing to the venue in the morning; though sitting in the passenger seat offered a breather, framing the shot meant twisting my body while holding items. The restraint of the seatbelt combined with the costume's snugness made me feel trapped in the seat, so right after that shot, I decided to get out and find a more open space. The mirror full-body shot in Photo 2 was one of my favorite angles—though lacking a complex backdrop, it cleanly showcased the upper-body design paired with the Stocking outfit (black leggings) and glossy silver flats. The black leggings beneath the coat's long hem created a sharp, layered visual dynamic. Photo 3 was snapped in the event venue's lounge area, where the promotional backdrop filled with extensive text naturally cultivated the vibe of 'reviewing conference files,' perfectly matching the character's daily routine. However, this scene was tricky because the reflected glare from the text board bounced ambient light onto my face, making facial features look flat and requiring subtle highlight suppression in post-editing.

Finally, the close-up holding the clipboard in Photo 4 felt like the most accurate representation of the character's working state. The clipboard prop was well-made; despite being cardboard, adding the metal clip imparted a strong sense of academic record-keeping. Throughout the day, we roamed different corners looking for ideal lighting and backdrops. Walking all day in this costume, the thin soles of the silver leather shoes made the balls of my feet quite sore. Although the weather, fabrics, and footwear caused some discomfort, stepping into this attire to experience the character's world—a setting combining everyday life with research work—was genuinely fascinating. Personally recreating such a well-designed outfit and experiencing this rigorous yet elegant sartorial rhythm was the core joy of this Priestess cosplay journey. No matter how demanding the costume was to wear, the genuine sense of fulfillment after seeing the final photos made it completely worthwhile.
