Shooting this Arknights Theresa Cosplay themed around EPOQUE Series - "Condolence" Civilight Eterna, I experimented with a unique Gothic style cosplay interpretation. Every fabric piece of the Black lace dress features intricate textures, particularly the delicate lace around the neckline and the puffed layering at the sleeves; wearing it felt exquisite yet notably heavy—a necessary sacrifice to convey that opulent dark aesthetic. The headpiece was the focal point of this look: black-and-gold pointed horns adorned with small flowers, richly textured and serving as the true soul of this styling. Due to headpiece counterbalance and wig fastening, maintaining a careful head angle was essential during shooting to ensure it looked natural without breaking character immersion.
I specifically chose a pink-to-white gradient wig, where the soft pink tips appeared exceptionally gentle, contrasting uniquely against the cool-toned makeup. For makeup, I blended light purple-pink eyeshadow at the outer eye corners, lightly dusted blush below the eyes, and kept contouring very subtle, aiming to evoke a visual aesthetic that seems sacred yet carries underlying melancholy. The pose in Photo 1 shows me turning back while gently holding the black lace veil; the veil's translucency allowed the half-concealed gaze beneath it to communicate an intense sense of mystery and narrative depth.
Photo 2 is the official finished shot and my personal favorite. Holding blue hydrangeas in one arm—with a vintage ragdoll nestled among the blossoms—I lightly placed a finger against my lips in a 'hush' gesture. This prop pairing was planned with the photographer beforehand: the blue flowers stood out vividly against the monochromatic black-and-white palette, breaking monotony and enriching visual layering. The backdrop featured colossal white feathers backlit by intense studio lights, generating a striking rim lighting effect. Backlighting not only accentuated the openwork patterns of the Black lace dress, but also cast a hazy halo along strands of hair and veil edges. This lent an ethereal, airy lightness to the frame while fitting the solemn, reverent atmosphere of EPOQUE Series - "Condolence" Civilight Eterna.
Several minor anecdotes happened during the shoot, like the ragdoll accidentally slipping from my grasp, though that gave the photographer and me spontaneous creative inspiration. Furthermore, with layered tiers of lace and the weight of the headpiece, putting on and adjusting the entire outfit took considerable time. In post-processing, we deliberately preserved the stark contrast between light and shadow without over-smoothing the skin, hoping to retain the character's innate sense of aloof detachment. Overall, from makeup and prop coordination to lighting synergy, this photoshoot was a satisfying endeavor and challenge that deepened my appreciation for this style.
