[Dusk cosplay] Arknights: Dusk's "Jade as Inkstone" Ancient style cosplay Studio shoot Record in Chinese-style photography

As soon as I received this costume of Dusk from Arknights, I immediately arranged a Studio shoot. To align with the theme of "Jade as Inkstone," the fabric choices and tailoring were remarkably meticulous. The outer layer consists of cascading semi-sheer white tulle over a cyan-blue fabric lining; as I walked, the sheer fabric fluttered with each step. However, during the photoshoot, this material was actually quite difficult to shape and control, requiring continuous adjustments to the folds and graceful drape of the skirt. While the attire exudes an ethereal, fairy-like grace in this Ancient style cosplay, wearing it was honestly somewhat cumbersome—especially in a compact photography studio, where the long flowing hems easily caught on the stage props, demanding extraordinary caution throughout.

A great deal of care was poured into the wig and makeup. The long, straight black hairstyle was trimmed into distinct layers, while the luminous horns and elf ears on both sides had to be anchored securely to prevent them from shifting during broader movements. The eye makeup referenced the canonical cool tones, which, paired with cyan-blue gloves, drew out the character's unearthly, aloof aura. The customized scroll prop was specially made; its red-and-black palette forged a sharp visual contrast against the red cords on the garment, anchoring a solid visual focal point amidst the cool-toned ensemble.

The studio set design was exceptionally thoughtful. On the right stood a faux pink cherry blossom tree with sprawling branches that served as organic foreground framing. On the left, a luminous wooden lantern box was placed alongside a semi-transparent sheer curtain patterned with bamboo leaves. The white mats on the floor paired with weathered driftwood decor and the cyan-blue backdrop created a vibrant color contrast. To bring out the diaphanous transparency of the sheer robes, the photographer added rim backlighting alongside the key lights to cast a gentle halo around the hair strands and garment contours, while the warm glow from the left lantern box tempered the cool overall tones, adding delicate layers of depth in this Chinese-style photography.

The shooting process was far more physically demanding than I anticipated. Posing with the umbrella and the scroll was quite particular; because the wide sleeves easily ruffled the outfit whenever I raised my hands, we had to pause several times to tidy up the costume. The photographer and I continuously fine-tuned angles, placing the subject centered in the frame while utilizing the cherry blossom branches as foreground to heighten visual depth. Shooting this "Jade as Inkstone" theme was fundamentally about conveying quiet solitude and gentle detachment, so my gaze and physical movements were kept restrained. To seize the fleeting flutter of the sheer sleeves, the photographer captured numerous dynamic candid moments at a tight, brisk shooting pace.

The harmony between the studio lighting and set dressing was superb, yielding finished cuts with deeply satisfying texture. From costume preparation to prop crafting, and onto on-site chiaroscuro adjustments, every step involved continuous trial, error, and refinement. Striving to materialize the vivid imagery in one's mind into reality is precisely the most mesmerizing facet of cosplay and Dusk cosplay.
