This time, I bring you a finished photo series of Jsspsi cosplay from Arknights: Endfield. From initial planning to final post-production, the entire creative process was filled with thrilling challenges and wonderful surprises. Jsspsi's character design elements are remarkably distinctive—most captivating to me were the instantly recognizable black-and-yellow patterned antlers atop her head, alongside the thick, elongated tail prop behind her. To faithfully recreate that fantastical essence infused with oriental aesthetics, extensive dedication was invested in textile textures and garment tailoring. The pale blue and white color scheme, structured black stand collar with metallic clasps, and delicate golden tassels and bead strands all demanded continuous recalibration before shooting. In particular, the detached arm sleeves and intricate ornamental patterns required meticulous fastening of each velcro strip and buckle to ensure zero wardrobe slips before the lens.
On the day of the shoot, we constructed a studio set blending spring vibes with classical tradition. Tatami mats, timber chairs, pink sakura blossoms, hazy sheer drapes, and glowing paper lanterns aligned seamlessly with the theme of the old year framed in painting as spring awakens anew. The painted scroll held in my hand served as an endearing interactive prop, complete with playful stick figures drawn on the parchment that injected a touch of whimsy into the otherwise serene atmosphere. The photographer used an EOS R6 with the RF 35mm F1.4L VCM lens; despite complex indoor lighting conditions, it preserved exquisite image fidelity, and the dreamy optical atmosphere rendered by the large aperture was peerless. In post-production, Capture One was employed to delicately reproduce accurate skin tones and garment hues, retaining the frame's authentic softness and tangible skin texture without over-smoothing.
Throughout shooting, I constantly channeled Jsspsi's inner demeanor. Her eyes should sparkle with lively spirit, carrying an ethereal detachment from secular cares alongside youthful girlish vivacity. From a glance back while standing, to crossing legs gracefully on a wooden chair, to kneeling on the tatami while unrolling the scroll, each subtle pose was tuned to honor her persona and highlight the garment's contours. Emphasizing leg contours was especially vital: the pairing of over-the-knee white stockings and chunky black platform boots forged a powerful visual contrast, creating crisp three-dimensional depth for this Stockings cosplay. Camera angles were equally critical, with low and high angles establishing contrasting auras. To ensure the drape of the skirt and the arc of the tail flowed organically, I continuously shifted my center of gravity. While white stockings look pristine, shifting across textured tatami easily snags the fabric, requiring extreme mindfulness with every step. When holding the scroll, the placement of my fingers had to be fine-tuned so as not to obscure the gauntlet armor details. I hope this Anime-style photography depiction conveys Jsspsi's true charm, and I look forward to challenging more richly detailed characters in the future.
