Today I'm sharing Moria Ruruka's Lace style outfit casual cosplay from Detective Precure!. Choosing a rainy night for the shoot was mainly because I felt the grey, black, and purple palette would evoke a texture completely distinct from routine studio shoots amidst the chilly, misty, and mysterious play of light on water.
First, let's talk about the wardrobe details. The top is a light grey-purple short-sleeved blouse adorned with black lace ruffles along the collar, bust, and cuffs, finished with a black ribbon bow at the chest for a vintage aristocratic flair. The bottom features a high-waisted black tiered cake skirt, with the hemline similarly spliced with black lace. The purple-and-white satin sash at the waist is a crowning touch, harmonizing with the purple bow hairpiece and pale golden wig. The wig styling is unique, featuring a looped ahoge at the crown and layered trimming at the tips. Makeup focused on purple contact lenses, paired with grey-black eyeshadow and a natural rose-nude lip color; the base was kept fresh and dewy to avoid competing with the intricate lace textures of the garment. Black-and-white spliced arm sleeves added a touch of uniform-like precision, while black mid-calf socks and glossy platform Mary Janes elongated bodily proportions visually alongside Black stockings aesthetics.
The location was an outdoor covered corridor with glass curtain walls. Raindrops pattered against the glass to form natural watery ripples, while puddles on the ground mirrored distant city lights and reflections, creating incredible ambient mood. However, shooting in the rain demands high care for fabrics and wigs. Wet lace and ribbons lose their drape, so I stayed under sheltered spots and blotted moisture with tissues immediately after every take. Wigs frizz easily in damp air, so I prepped with anti-static spray and brushed it gently before every sequence.
For posing, the slick ground meant avoiding dynamic running or leaping, focusing instead on lifting the skirt hem, turning back over the shoulder, and leaning against the railing. Lifting the skirt not only showcased its tiers, but also kept it clear of ground puddles. The over-the-shoulder glance highlighted my profile and the wig's texture. Supplemental lighting is vital for a Rainy night portrait: the photographer set a high-powered softbox slightly to the front side, suppressing background exposure while crisply resolving the fabric weaves and delicate lace trims. While staying cautious against slipping made my movements somewhat restrained, that very stillness lent the images a quiet, cinematic storytelling tone in the rain.
A Lace style outfit hinges on balancing fabric texture and silhouette volume; excessive tiers can easily look bulky, so I selected a tailored top using the black waist cincher and bow to define the waistline. Overall, this casual coordination balances Japanese streetwear appeal with the work's inherent refinement. Maintaining poise on slick stone paving tested core stability, but the vaporous, mist-laden texture in the final frames made this rainy night shoot truly unforgettable.
