The convention photos for Wuthering Waves Lynae from BW Day 3 have arrived! Cosplaying Lynae this time, her overall design is genuinely striking: a crisp white shirt paired with a black multi-tiered ruffled mini skirt, cinched at the waist with a leather corset belt and silver metal chains that clinked crisply with every step. Her headpiece features a white skull hairpin, complemented by black fingerless gloves and skeletal hand ornaments, lending a subtle punk and dark aesthetic to the look. The wig is long and straight with a light blonde to mint green gradient styled into side braids; to maintain its structure, I used plenty of styling spray so it held its silhouette even when the outdoor wind picked up.
For the lower half, over-the-knee Black stockings were paired with chunky platform high heels, connected to the skirt's underside via delicate straps around the thighs, which visually elongated my leg lines wonderfully. To capture this set of convention photos, we scoped out an open plaza outside the BW venue with beautifully crisp, translucent light. The outdoor sunlight was abundant that day, and the photographer used a Sony A7C II paired with a 50mm f/1.2 lens; the wide aperture melted the modern glass curtain walls and passing crowds in the background into cool-toned bokeh, making the subject pop dramatically.
During the shoot, I struck a variety of poses: crouching low to aim forward, raising the prop gun overhead, and balancing steadily on one leg. Though that light green sci-fi blaster prop didn't look overly large, holding it aloft for long stretches definitely made my wrist ache. The one-legged balance shot was especially demanding—to keep the flared skirt billowing while showcasing the leg lines, I had to keep my core locked tight throughout, repeating takes several times to freeze a satisfying dynamic frame. Maneuvering around the outdoor plaza in Black stockings and chunky platform heels certainly required razor-sharp focus, but the tactile quality showcased in the final images made it completely worthwhile.
The venue on BW Day 3 was packed with crowds, and capturing these focused, tranquil moments amidst the bustle was entirely thanks to the photographer's guidance and command of light and shadow. Beyond costume and prop accuracy, every outdoor convention shoot tests your ability to step into character rapidly in an unfamiliar environment. Lynae's look this time was richly detailed in accessories and layers, requiring us to adjust the skirt hem and chain placements between broad movements to keep the frame tidy. Between takes, I ran into many fellow ACG enthusiasts who helped each other adjust garments and props, creating a warm, wonderful vibe. This set documents numerous nuances of portraying Lynae that day, staying faithful to the lore from braided strands to footwear. I look forward to meeting everyone on the floor with a fresh styling at the next convention!
