The shoot and styling plan for this Remielle cosplay has finally come to fruition. As the character belongs to the Zenless Zone Zero universe, the overarching aesthetic leans toward intricate Anime cosplay with expressive, stylized flair.
The tailoring of the garment is fairly complex; the white lace arm sleeves and the criss-cross strapping over the chest require a precise fit, demanding constant adjustments to the corset lacing to prevent unnatural bunching when posing.
For makeup, crimson pupils paired with short pink hair, accented with pointed elf ears, gave my facial contours greater three-dimensionality. To reflect the character's nimble yet somewhat aloof temperament, I deliberately reined in smiling expressions, aiming to convey emotion through my gaze. Especially in the low-angle, side-reclining composition of the first shot, using arm placement to subtly frame the sightlines focused visual attention onto the eyes and costume details.
During the shoot, the all-white studio set blended seamlessly with the wardrobe. To prevent washed-out highlights from losing fabric texture, the photographer experimented extensively with lighting setups. The garter-belt White stockings were a standout highlight of this look, which, paired with thigh rings and delicate lace borders, beautifully flattered leg contours in reclining or leg-lifting postures. The vintage mirror and birdcage on set further infused an air of mystery into the Portrait photography.
Regarding post-processing, adjustments focused on harmonizing skin textures while preserving the pearl-like sheen and sheer translucency inherent to the garments. For the frame holding milk tea, to keep from disrupting the character's fantasy mood, we tuned the color grading of the boba cup to match the cool-white ambient atmosphere. The finalized images present an exceptionally crisp, airy finish—making this one of my most satisfying recent creative endeavors.
Surprisingly, orchestrating props and poses took the most effort throughout the session. Because white attire easily loses depth against a white backdrop, posing angles and light directions required constant repositioning. Remielle's temperament strikes a delicate balance between stillness and motion: poses cannot appear too rigid, nor overly casual. Meeting the lens called for an unspoken chemistry, resembling the natural eye contact shared between partners in crime.
The costume for this shoot was custom-made; in particular, the cutout criss-cross strap design placed high demands on body proportions, so I prepared ample fashion tape and padding for minute adjustments to prevent wardrobe malfunctions during rapid transitions. Though the preparation was meticulous, the final imagery made every bit of effort worthwhile. This stylistic fusion of light cyberpunk and fantasy is immensely rewarding, and I hope to explore similar themed sets in future Anime cosplay projects.
Wearing the garter-belt White stockings required immense care, as any careless tension could easily leave indentations on the skin and complicate retouching. The milk tea props also called for repeated positioning adjustments; to ensure authentic realism, we even purchased three cups with varying color saturations, avoiding visual dissonance during color balancing. Additionally, the cross motifs and tassels on the outfit tended to sway when moving, so I turned that into intentional posing by interacting with them by hand during the shoot.
