[Suisui cosplay] Wuthering Waves: Chinese-Style Modern Cheongsam Look, The Black and Gold Texture Is Stunning

This Suisui cosplay Modern Cheongsam styling took nearly three weeks from initial preparation to the final photos. Because Wuthering Waves inherently features a highly recognizable visual style, when setting up this Anime cosplay, my primary focus was seamlessly translating in-game elements into tangible garments.

Let's start with the head styling. The blonde wig was styled into an elegant updo, leaving slightly curled side tendrils framing the cheeks to flatter my face shape. The elf ears were custom-made from silicone, offering a snug fit. The scar makeup in the dead center of the forehead was softly blended using eyeshadow and concealer rather than harsh, rigid pencil lines, deliberately keeping the edges soft so it looked seamless on camera. For eye makeup, I selected amber-hued contact lenses accented with subtle reddish tones at the outer corners, closely mirroring the character's canon eye color.

The costume was the true centerpiece of this shoot. It is a mini Modern Cheongsam primarily composed of black, gold, and white. The halter neckline features black-and-gold patterned detailing, while golden feather-shaped embroidery is scattered across the chest and skirt hem. To keep the silhouette from appearing flat, a light lining was added underneath a glossy satin exterior. The detached sleeve cuffs were crafted from sheer black tulle tied to the arms with red cords, which not only added depth and layering but also allowed unrestricted arm movement during poses. A golden thigh ring encircled the upper leg as a visual focal divider, pairing with high heels to accentuate sleek, Beautiful legs with fluid lines.

I also invested extensive time in prop and scene coordination. The folding fan in hand was custom-printed with a traditional landscape painting, harmonizing with the golden hues on the dress. The shooting location was a tatami room, framed by wooden privacy screens and carved lattice windows, complemented by pink-and-white plum blossom branches and a small wooden tea table. The tea table held a fruit platter, scrolls, and tea ware; these delicate accents filled empty negative space and helped me fully immerse into character.

The physical shooting process was quite a workout. Several sequences required supporting myself on the floor with one hand while hoisting the folding fan high with the other, all while keeping my body poised and elongated to showcase the garment's tailoring and Beautiful legs. To achieve natural light and shadow, we primarily used rim backlighting coupled with reflector bounce boards for facial fill, bringing out the exquisite specular shimmer of the gold thread embroidery. The raw tones leaned warm, so in post-processing, we slightly subdued the background exposure and boosted the contrast on the outfit to make the gold embellishments pop vividly.

Overall, fusing Anime cosplay flair with a traditional Chinese Modern Cheongsam was a thoroughly delightful experiment. Although managing the intricate prop and costume details was demanding, the final visual delivery made every bit of preparation feel completely worthwhile.
