The expressiveness of patent leather under the camera depends entirely on the direction of the venue's lighting. This yellow, black, and white color-blocked costume garnered a lot of attention largely due to the highly reflective nature of patent leather. The high collar bow and the golden wing-like decorations at the waist are not flat against the fabric but possess a certain three-dimensional depth, causing the reflection of the sheen to change significantly under different lighting angles. To pull off this outfit, one must first overcome the restricted movement caused by the stiffness of the material, especially the black corset area, which exerts a noticeable tightening effect on the waist and abdomen; maintaining a crisp, upright posture is the correct way to present this design. The effect seen in the final photos actually required keeping my core constantly engaged at the scene to maintain.
For the makeup, I focused on the clarity and transparency of the base. Because yellow fabric can easily make the skin tone look dull, the base makeup was intentionally made slightly brighter to ensure a natural transition with the blonde wig. The red contact lenses are the most vibrant embellishment on the entire face; in close-up shots, they break up the sharpness brought by the large areas of black, white, and yellow, adding a touch of liveliness to the character. The eyelashes and eyeshadow were kept clean and crisp, removing complex layers, and matching well with the blonde hair color for excellent overall visual unity.
In terms of photography, @东灵's experience in handling the complex light sources inside the venue was crucial. He did not use an overly harsh direct flash, instead utilizing the overhead spotlights of the venue as the main light source, perfectly outlining the character's rim light. Especially the black patent leather part, which produced dazzling highlights under the strong light—a natural gloss that is difficult to simulate accurately in post-processing. The colorful cylindrical prop in my hand served as a color complement to the frame, adding some soft, bright colors to the originally high-contrast yellow and black tones. The holding pose was chosen to extend outward, combined with a hand-on-hip gesture, to convey a greater sense of power rather than simple fragility and cuteness.
I paid close attention to the proportions of the lower body. The golden thigh rings and the thin-strapped high heels at the ankles created a smooth visual flow, while the white ruffles of the short skirt created a clear cut-off right at the top of the thighs, a design that served to elongate the leg lines. When shooting from a low angle, a strong contrast of modernity was formed between the character and the industrial truss structure of the background, as if brilliant anime equipment was placed into the cold, hard architecture of reality. Compared to traditional studio shoots, this background with an authentic convention atmosphere actually endowed the character with a vitality that broke through the dimension wall.
Standing and posing for a long time at the convention venue, this gear actually brought many limitations. For example, when turning, I had to consider the connection between the skirt hem and the waistband, and making slightly large movements could easily cause accidental exposure or get items stuck. Therefore, many of my poses had to be controlled within specific joint angle ranges, which also required a tacit on-site communication between the photographer and me. The sharp and neat postures shown in the final photos were built precisely upon the subtle adjustments made by both parties.
Seeing the final convention photos, although the headpiece and heels took quite a bit of effort, this bright and flamboyant style definitely brought me a lot of freshness. Outfits of different styles constantly refresh my experience points. Behind every seemingly effortless final product lies the ultimate refinement of makeup and styling details, as well as the precise capture of the shooting moments. The completion of this look was full of light and shadow coordination and adaptation to the clothing material, giving me a visual experience completely different from my previous dark-toned outfits.
