[Columbina Cosplay] The Maiden in Genshin Impact, Softly Asking Your Feelings Under the Moon - Image 1

Changing into this blue-and-white outfit and stepping onto that glowing crescent moon—what I want to share with everyone this time is my cosplay understanding and photoshoot records of Columbina, a character from Genshin Impact.

The material of this outfit is very refined, with flowing chiffon interwoven with delicate gauze to create a wonderful floating effect before the lens. Especially the tailoring below the waist, paired with side cut-out designs and crisscross white leg straps, elongated visual proportions remarkably well. For makeup, I specifically chose cool-toned pink eyeshadow to echo the ethereal girlish vibe of the character while retaining clarity in my gaze.

Setting up the props was a major challenge. Photographer leonv_photography was extremely creative, moving a giant glowing crescent moon prop indoors. During shooting, we turned off most ambient lights, relying solely on this crescent as the primary light source. This setup of moonlight and shadows with under-lighting and backlighting is tricky to master, as a slight misstep can cause heavy facial shadows. To balance it, I adjusted my sitting posture multiple times, slightly raising my chin so moonlight could fall evenly across my face and neckline.

Initially I tried a conventional, gentle sitting posture, but it always felt lacking in tension. Later I tried extending my right leg outward while tilting my body's center of gravity slightly back and left to elongate leg lines. At the same time, my left hand naturally reached toward the camera in an inviting gesture, which, combined with flowing sleeve hems, captured that cool yet softly inviting atmosphere I hoped to present.

The shooting venue was actually very quiet, with the photographer exquisitely capturing every nuance of charm. Just like the caption says, "Would you like to enjoy the moon together?", this is actually a question many Genshin Impact players asked when first encountering this maiden. Her mystery and those pure eyes that seem to see through all things in the world need to be revealed through negative space and detailed composition.

I have always felt that perfect cosplay is not just putting on clothes, but more importantly restoring the "soul" of the character. For this Genshin Impact cosplay work, we discussed everything from makeup and props to lighting for a very long time. In particular, the pink highlight tint at the ends of my hair was delicately blended during post-processing; combined with the white feather headpiece, it gave the overall styling color layering and avoided the monotony of pure blue and white.

Sitting on this "moon", the surface was actually cold, and the prop had only a thin structural support. To maintain elegant ankle and leg lines in frame, core strength had to be engaged at all times during posing. When the photographer shouted "Okay, hold it!", that was usually the moment I needed to hold my breath the most. Though exhausting during the shoot, seeing the body's S-curve and flowing fabric draping naturally in the viewfinder made it the most fulfilling moment.

Regarding details of this outfit, I especially love these high heels on my feet decorated with transparent straps and small blue spheres. Originally, I was worried such ornate straps might look clunky, but after wearing them, I found they contoured smoothly along my calves and ankles. When sitting suspended with shoes tilted up, these details added a finishing touch while greatly elevating the costume's overall temperament.

During shooting, the hardest part to control was the dynamic motion of fabrics and hair. To capture that "walking in the moon palace" feeling, we used fans, but wind strength had to be just right—too strong and hair strands would completely block my face. The arc of every floating strand was determined after multiple test shots.

I also discovered that under this specific lighting, the white translucent material along the clothing edges reflected a pearl-like shimmer, which fits the character's "otherworldly" ethereal nature perfectly. Adjusting my cuffs during shooting, I pondered how this wonderland ambiance was created. It wasn't about lavish set decoration, but a pure light source, a clean background, and the subject's own movement lines creating a strong sense of high quality.

In the editing phase, I deliberately preserved skin texture and emphasized lines along the collarbones and shoulders. That subtle, faint sensuality often carries more story than direct poses. Wearing this outfit was actually physically demanding—though layered, the fabrics were light, and slightly sharp movements would flip the garments. To keep the look neat, I spent lots of time smoothing skirt hems, checking strap tightness, and centering chest ornaments before stepping on camera.

However, seeing this final image made all the hard work worth it. That feeling of moonlight spilling over my body, paired with a subtle, gentle gaze, felt like truly stepping into the world of Teyvat, sitting atop that mysterious crescent and quietly watching travelers on their journey. This work was not only a challenge in character fidelity, but also another attempt at my own expressiveness under themed lighting and props. I'm thrilled to have recorded this mystery and lightness belonging to Genshin Impact's Columbina together with the photographer under this crescent moon.
