[Theresa Cosplay] Arknights: Silver and Pink Interwoven in Mourning for the Lord of Fiends

The photoshoot for Theresa Cosplay's Lord of Fiends mourning look from Arknights finally turned out with satisfying results. The overall styling revolves around a black Gothic style outfit keynote, accented with silver-white embroidered blossoms and translucent black tulle, complemented by a pink-to-silver-white gradient wig, striving to faithfully capture that gentle yet resolute temperament inherent to the character.

Talking about the wig, this gradient process was actually quite challenging. Transitioning from bright pink at the crown down to silver-white at the tips required a very natural fade; otherwise, it would look like unwashed dye on top. Before wearing it, I carefully smoothed out frizz at the roots and used a flat iron to give it a slight curve so it would appear soft rather than sticking out rigidly like a stiff pot lid. Moreover, the bangs couldn't be too thick or too thin—too thick would weigh down the facial features into somberness, while too thin would easily expose the wig cap. Hence, trimming the layered crown demanded high precision.

The black-and-white head accessories offered many visual highlights. The black hat had great texture, adorned at the center with a three-dimensional silver flower featuring a bead as the stamen, looking exquisitely delicate. The attached black veil was the trickiest element to manage because it was so light that the slightest draft would send it fluttering. If the veil stuck flat against the face, it looked messy, so during the shoot, I had to keep an eye on the drape of the tulle while holding expressions and poses. At some angles, I deliberately let the veil drape across half my face to heighten the sense of mystery, while at other angles, I swept it entirely to the back to showcase the complete makeup. Navigating these layers of sheer tulle, I found that lightly pinching the hem of the veil upward with my fingertips, or reaching a hand out from beneath the veil, created an expressive sense of extension and interactivity.

The neckline design was also distinctive. It features a wide black lace choker with a soft, delicate texture that doesn't scratch the skin. The highlight is the braided gold-and-black cord dangling down the center, along with the horizontal chest strap patterned with silver stitching. This cord achieved visual balance throughout the entire outfit, connecting the neck to the chest so the vast expanse of black didn't feel monotonous or oppressive. To complement this interplay of gothic and dark aesthetics in this Gothic style outfit, the chest straps and lace trims were fitted snugly, ensuring modesty while perfectly expressing the character's aura.

For makeup, I intentionally dialed down the overall brightness. Theresa is inherently a gentle character, so instead of harsh, heavy black eyeliner, I relied primarily on soft pink eyeshadow blending, accented with large rhinestone crystals beneath the eyes as highlight gems. When applying the crystals, pinpointing the tear trough and placing several stones created that shimmering twinkle whenever my gaze shifted. The lipstick was a peach shade with a slight glossy sheen, matching the lightweight facial tones without weighing the lips down. The base makeup leaned translucent—brightening the complexion just enough to highlight the emotive depth in the eyes.

The set was arranged in a clean, classical European interior. The architectural pillars and floral arrangements matched the solemn aesthetic of the Lord of Fiends mourning theme. We mainly used even, diffused flat lighting to simulate natural light pouring through windows, softening facial shadows and preserving authentic skin textures. Framing the foreground with blurred white drapes and blossoms added great depth to the shot in this Anime-style photography. Overall, despite the numerous accessories, wearing this costume was quite comfortable without feeling overly constricting. The combination of black tulle and lace looks extraordinarily upscale under ambient light. We avoided heavy filters to let the raw fabric textures and authentic colors shine through, keeping the images grounded and authentic.

The character of Theresa holds special significance for Arknights players, and capturing her so well in this setting provided an immersive sense of connection. Crafting the makeup, hair, and wardrobe entirely on my own took time for fine adjustments, but seeing the final delivery was immensely gratifying.
