Sharing this pajama-style cosplay work of Sandrone (Marionette). For this shoot, we chose to try a soft imagery different from the standard Fatui Harbinger setting. After consulting with photographer @Wahaha regarding the styling, I specially picked a white-and-goose-yellow patchwork ruffled dress paired with soft headpieces, hoping to present the character's leisurely, quiet relaxation after stepping away from missions.
In terms of scene layout, we spent a lot of thought creating two atmospheres that are both unified and distinct. The first set is a dreamy bedroom built indoors, with a backdrop of lightweight, flowing white tulle bed curtains decorated with a large number of macaron-colored butterfly stickers. The colors are soft, and when paired with the elegant flower bouquets and iron easel placed nearby, the entire frame presents a fairy-tale-like ethereal feel. The second scene switches to a vibrant floral art archway layout, filled with lush green plants and hanging imitation lemon strings, plus a mint-green folding chair and a woven wicker basket, instantly maximizing the atmosphere into a late-summer or early-autumn country afternoon.
To fit the inner core of the inherent setting of "Marionette," I made specific choices in the makeup and styling. The orange-brown long wig required very detailed grooming to ensure it wasn't too frizzy or overly voluminous, keeping the bangs and sideburns gracefully smooth. Wearing light blue colored contact lenses can make the gaze look clearer and devoid of too many human emotional colors. This inorganic gaze combined with the soft-cute clothing creates a wonderful contrast cute charm. For the clothing, I adjusted the ruffled edges on the cuffs and the belt beforehand to ensure the chest area remained flat, so it wouldn't shift even during large movements. The fabric texture of the clothing is excellent; the combination of a white base with yellow trim looks extremely clean under the camera lens, and the lack of flashy patterns fits this quiet, homey setting better.
The key during the shooting process was the control over physical movements. Although this is an attempt at a "pajama style," I still hoped to retain some mechanical rhythm within the dynamics. For movements in front of the bed curtains, I intentionally lowered my center of gravity to mimic a slightly slouched sitting posture when strings are temporarily relaxed, and my hands could try to make movements like slightly curved cat claws. Keeping the gaze half-dropped without deliberately looking straight into the lens beautifully expresses the blur of a moment before a marionette awakens. In the lemon archway area, the screen tension expanded; I chose to carry a small basket with my body weight leaning slightly forward while tipping on my toes. When the frame froze, it needed both a lightweight girlish feel and a subtle sense of stagnation. This set of movements heavily tests arm and core strength because one must maintain this "non-human" posture without collapsing.
Thanks to photographer @Wahaha, who used high-key lighting throughout the entire process to help me find the most suitable shadow placements. Post-processing did not use heavy filter color grading but tried its best to preserve the translucency of the original environment; the texture of the white veil and the plastic reflection quality of the lemons were handled very delicately. Even for a Genshin Impact creator incentive program submission, I hope every set of works is built upon refined details. Although this is an OOC-apology, private-attire-oriented attempt that steps away from the original Marionette's cold style to become a little girl taking an afternoon nap in an art studio, this contrast is perhaps precisely where the charm of cosplay lies. Through this set of photos, I hope you can feel a summer coolness and quietness leaking through the screen for this piece of Anime-style photography.
