[Kotori Toyomi cosplay] Blue Archive Cheerleader cosplay: Full-throttle cheer vitality

Bringing this cheerleader styling for Kotori Toyomi from Blue Archive to life took nearly half a month from preparation to final delivery. Because the character features an unmistakable cheerleader motif, the garment palette and prop details had to be executed flawlessly.

The diamond-pattern fabric for the top was custom-ordered from a manufacturer, and the tailoring was altered twice to honor the original character design—particularly at the seam where the neckline meets the halter strap, ensuring crisp structure throughout the shoot. The lettering on the belt was thoroughly double-checked to prevent any prop inaccuracies. The blue, white, and yellow pleated skirt was spliced strictly per the official illustration; the yellow waist sash echoed the white chest straps, establishing a vibrant, energetic visual rhythm.

For the wig, I selected a golden-blonde straight style with subtle airy volume, trimmed into neat blunt bangs and tied into twintails on both sides with blue scrunchies. To add dimensional flair, a golden geometric halo ornament was anchored to the crown. The makeup centered heavily on the eyes: after wearing crimson contact lenses, a bright eyeshadow base was layered with crisp eyeliner and false lashes to enlarge the eyes, finished with soft pink blush to impart a healthy glow. A transparent decorative bandage was placed on the right upper arm, introducing a nuanced accent that enriched the overall styling.

The location was set beside the floor-to-ceiling windows of a high-rise building, utilizing the towering city skyline as a natural backdrop. Combined with intense natural sunlight, this created a bright, translucent aesthetic. Because the daylight was intense, balancing facial exposure required continuous care, with the photographer utilizing reflectors to soften shadows. The yellow-and-white pom-poms served as the soul of the Cheerleader cosplay; whether raised in one hand or held in both, they demanded extended, graceful arm lines. The pose with one knee down and the body angled with a raised leg required solid core engagement to keep the back upright and leg lines sleek, prompting multiple on-set adjustments. Another standing hand-on-hip pose was designed to better display the skirt pleats and overall tailoring while allowing the pom-poms to naturally frame the composition.

As this shoot was prepared for the One Kilometer Photography Contest, the entire session involved close collaboration with the photographer. Low-angle perspectives heavily test expressive delivery; cultivating natural eye contact and lively poise without stiffness called for extensive mirror rehearsals beforehand. The resulting vigor and punchy color contrast owe everything to meticulous pre-shoot styling and synchronized on-set lighting. Every time I do cosplay, my goal is to channel the true spirit of the character, and this Kotori Toyomi cheerleader styling was crafted to project that radiant energy and youth. Looking out at the bustling city streets while wearing such a spirited outfit kept my adrenaline high throughout the entire session.
