The costume for this shoot was a classic black-and-white Maid outfit cosplay. When choosing this outfit, I was primarily drawn to its rich ruffle details and crisp tailoring. Actually putting it on, the overall visual result was indeed a pleasant surprise. The top features black puff sleeves, a white ruffled collar with two black heart-shaped buttons on the chest, and a black flared skirt underneath covered by a white ruffled apron, tied at the waist with a large black bow for striking layers. To complement this outfit, I deliberately chose white tights for a classic White thigh-highs outfit aesthetic and dark brown patent leather loafers, strictly controlling the color scheme within black, white, and brown to ensure a clean, crisp frame.
The shoot was set in a warmly decorated indoor Dessert kitchen. In the background, there was a table draped in a light blue-and-white checkered tablecloth, laden with clear glass jars, white dishes, and a compact baking oven, alongside pink wall shelves and a wooden wall clock. These lived-in props enriched the composition substantially, keeping the scene from feeling empty.
For the first set of photos, I sat on the floor holding a small glass cup of pink ice cream. Sitting on the ground naturally fans out the skirt, during which it is important to adjust the ruffles into a neat, pleasing fan shape. Leg placement was equally deliberate—sitting slightly angled made leg lines look smoother, while keeping an eye on the texture of the white tights on camera to avoid excessive glare. Scattering a few strawberries across the floor as accents was a great little trick to inject everyday warmth into the image.
Next, we moved beside the table to shoot perched on the edge. This pose required letting my legs dangle and pointing my insteps naturally, visually elongating leg proportions. For props, I switched to a wooden spatula and a pink piping bag. Holding the spatula, I tried several poses—like gearing up to cook or raising it lightly in one hand—keeping movements natural so they wouldn't look stiff. With the piping bag, echoing the blue cake in the background helped evoke the feeling of crafting homemade sweets.
Throughout the shoot, the photographer guided my eye-line and expressions. Since the outfit itself is inherently sweet, I avoided overly exaggerated expressions, maintaining a relaxed, natural Cute style state with occasional gentle pouts or direct gazes into the lens to convey a touch of playfulness. The indoor lighting was soft and diffuse, casting no harsh shadows over my face, which faithfully preserved natural skin textures and clearly captured the delicate ruffles. The white tights took on a gentle, lustrous sheen under the light, contrasting sharply with the black skirt for rich visual depth.
The entire shoot went exceptionally smoothly. The synergy between the location and the costume was fantastic, and working with small kitchen props made it easy to immerse into character. The final Anime-style photography shots turned out clean and refreshing, fully bringing out the intricate details and design quality of this costume.
