The concept behind this shoot was to cleverly integrate the image of Daji from Honor of Kings into a real-life Maid Cafe scene. For costume selection, I chose a classic blue-and-white maid outfit with striking red piping along the edges. Paired with her signature short pink wig and soft, fluffy beast ears, the overall look retains the character's original lively cuteness while adding a sweet, realistic touch of everyday life through the maid outfit setting. The white ruffled headpiece and dark blue bow on top became the visual focal point of the upper body, making the head styling feel full and harmonious.
In terms of material details, the skirt hem of this outfit received careful attention. Multiple layered ruffles were stacked to create a fluffy silhouette; when sitting down, the skirt spreads naturally, beautifully displaying the spatial structure of the garment. Pure white gloves worn on hands and a specially prepared small engraved silver cup served as indispensable detail props for this shoot. The metallic texture of the silver cup body reflected a gentle sheen under the warm yellow indoor lighting, creating a clever tactile contrast with the soft dress fabric.
Regarding scene design, instead of a plain solid-colored studio, I found a vintage indoor venue with European interior design. Deep wooden wall paneling and vibrant stained glass windows can be seen in the background; this vintage indoor environment forms a strong cold-and-warm visual contrast with the character's vibrant styling, creating great visual tension. The plaid blanket draped over the chair was brought by myself, casually placed across the back of the chair to break up the rigidity of the green leather seat while enriching the color layers of the frame. Nearby, a gold-rimmed two-tier fruit stand was filled with green grapes and a few red berries, serving as a natural foreground accent on the wooden table to prevent the focal weight from concentrating overly on the figure.
Makeup test before shooting took about two hours, with the primary focus on adjusting the hair flow of the pink wig so it would blend more naturally with my natural hairline without obvious disconnects. The maid outfit was also fine-tuned to fit my figure, especially the waist cinch, ensuring that when adopting a curled-up side-sitting posture, the clothes wouldn't form awkward, unnatural wrinkles. Before shooting, the photographer and I repeatedly checked the presentation of the white tights under the lens. I specifically selected a pair with moderate thickness and a subtle translucent sheen, paired with side backlighting so that the leg contours and lines appeared crisp and well-layered under the light while avoiding harsh, unnatural highlights.
The photographer used a mid-to-long focal length lens to complement this scene, which compressed the background space nicely, creating a gentle bokeh on the stained glass and wood grain textures behind, firmly locking the visual focus onto the character. Throughout shooting, to maintain a natural and elegant posture, I checked before every shutter click whether the skirt layers were fully spread to prevent the sitting stance from causing fabric pileups that obscure leg lines. The angle of holding the silver cup was also tested repeatedly, balancing a natural wrist bend while ensuring light reflections on the cup wall created an enchanting glow.
Every successful photo set is ultimately the combined result of costume/makeup preparation and on-site emotional engagement. Whether looking down to adjust the skirt hem or tilting my head toward the camera, I hoped to convey that gentle, lively charm belonging to the character along with that dreamlike anime cosplay vibe. Fully immersing myself throughout the process, I successfully captured the perfect moment of this style collision amidst warm lighting and vintage wood textures, yielding a set of photos rich in storytelling and thematic ambiance.
