This pink-and-white styling had been in the works ever since I first received the project concept. Because the character's design carries a remarkably fresh sweetness, we eschewed heavy or overly elaborate fabrics for the wardrobe, locking in this lustrous, glossy pink bodysuit instead. Paired with airy, semi-translucent white bell sleeves and sheer tulle gracing the waist, the goal was to create a breezy, floating sensation in motion. The oversized headpiece adorned with miniature plush dolls is the very soul of this styling; to keep it from looking stiff, I deliberately layered the wig and bangs so the fringe fell right between my brows and eyes, which, combined with pale pink contact lenses and eye makeup, centered visual focus perfectly onto the face.
Studio set design also required substantial care. A pure pink backdrop is tricky to photograph, as it can easily muddy skin tones or flatten garment layering. To counter this, we brought in several pure white Roman pillars and cylindrical pedestals; these solid blocks with classical geometric structure balanced the cloying sweetness of the pink backdrop, adding a sculpture-like tranquility to the frame. The grey long-eared plush bunny is a prop I personally adore; its soft, matte texture created a wonderful visual contrast against the glossy pink outfit. For the standing pose series, I cradled the bunny with one arm while lightly stepping one foot onto the pedestal, keeping body lines stretched without making hand gestures look awkward.
Since the outfit itself features a form-fitting cut, paired with White stockings and pink bow details, it radiates an overwhelming Pink style girl aesthetic. Throughout the shoot, photographer @勇者（恩师猫拒） handled light and shadow masterfully; the use of side-rim lighting not only traced the contours of my hair, but also made the sheer white tulle and arm sleeves appear as if glowing. Under such luminous lighting, the base makeup had to be pristine and free of powdery heaviness to avoid looking cakey. I applied an ultra-thin, sheer matte foundation, layering lightly only where needed under the eyes and around the lips, while using fine iridescent highlighter to harmonize facial light refractions with the glossy garment sheen. The eye makeup contours were softly rounded to preserve an innocent gaze, complemented by clustered individual lashes for lively radiance in this Anime-style photography session.
In Azur Lane, many characters possess distinct personalities, and Halford always struck me with her captivating gap-moe—blending battlefield resolve with relaxed, adorable daily charm. Recreating this character, I avoided forced cuteness, opting instead for casual, serene expressions to convey an effortless sweetness. Sitting on the cylindrical pedestal casually stroking the bunny's ear tips or gently tilting my head toward the camera felt far more authentic to her temperament than exaggerated poses. We explored various angles and framing during the shoot, but among the final selections, the most captivating aspect remains this pink-and-white color palette, appearing strikingly pure within the monochrome space.
While every finalized shot appears effortless, numerous subtle details support the outcome behind the scenes. Managing form-fitting garments to prevent awkward creases during intricate poses, and ensuring thigh-high White stockings remained clean and smooth throughout, required thorough preparation beforehand. Every cosplay outing is like a brief persona exchange—slipping into the costume, donning the wig and props, and stepping onto the set naturally draws you into the character's emotional world. I hope this photo set brings everyone a relaxing, soothing visual escape.
