This Blue and white porcelain Saber look took considerable time to polish, from wardrobe to hair and makeup. The garment features an all-over blue-and-white floral pattern in a modernized one-piece dress design. The neckline is tailored into a high halter cut with teardrop-shaped keyhole cutouts over the chest and midriff, alongside an open-back design. While this cut is quite flattering, it demands anti-exposure tape, especially ensuring a snug fit when bending or turning. The waist features side slits revealing inner white lace shorts. It is layered with detachable voluminous water sleeves finished with dark blue piping; the delicate blue-and-white porcelain motifs flutter with effortless grace when spread out on camera.
The wig also received dedicated craftsmanship: classic blonde blunt bangs with face-framing sidelocks, while the hair in back was braided into a tidy bun tied with long, dark blue satin ribbons. The iconic cowlick on top took extensive hairspray to stay upright. To match the elf-ear element, prosthetic pointed ears were worn, while bright blue cosmetic contacts echoed the primary outfit palette, matched with clean, translucent eye makeup without heavy shadows.
For props, I prepared a craft umbrella adorned with blue-and-white floral patterns and a folding fan with matching motifs. The craft umbrella is relatively large; capturing the over-the-shoulder turn required holding the handle single-handedly with the other arm draped naturally. Due to the umbrella's weight, steady wrist strength was essential. The folding fan proved very functional for full-body standing poses, organically guiding the viewer's gaze.
Heartfelt thanks to lighting master VISICO for calibrating the illumination: soft key lighting paired with side rim lights against a solid light gray-blue backdrop evenly illuminated the subject, highlighting skin radiance and the satin-like sheen of the fabric. In the first over-the-shoulder profile shot, the emphasis was on shoulder-neck contours and back lines; the photographer guided me to lower my chin slightly and cast my gaze downward, allowing the lights to trace clean shoulder highlights.
The second full-body shot tested stamina and core strength the most: spreading both arms to display the sweeping sleeve drape while standing with crossed legs, resting weight on the rear foot. Because it was paired with semi-sheer White stockings and white lace-trimmed shorts, white stockings easily catch glare and appear broad under bright lights, requiring precise lighting without diffuse blowouts. Wearing white platform block heels in full-body standing poses also demanded upright poise to lengthen leg lines. To convey both allure and elegance, I engaged my core and arched subtly to flatter body curves in profile and back shots.
The shoot spanned several hours, cycling through varied stances to achieve optimal framing and movement across every photo. From handling the umbrella and fan to switching between close-ups and sweeping sleeve poses, every gesture was calibrated with the lighting. The final images turned out crisp and clean, with the blue-and-white palette popping against the seamless backdrop, successfully realizing all expectations for this Traditional Chinese style Saber cosplay.
