This cosplay costume can truly be called my most satisfying one recently; I couldn't help but repeatedly admire the details from the moment I got it. The ruffle headpiece paired with the short pink hair, along with those exquisite lace and bows, are all recreated very wholeheartedly everywhere. To shoot that kind of quiet and slightly mysterious atmosphere, we specially chose an indoor scene inside an old Western-style house. The natural light outside shone through the blinds, creating beautiful layers of light and shadow.
During the shoot, this little black cat in my arms was exceptionally well-behaved, lying there quietly the whole time, looking just like a partner that stepped right out of the original settings. While holding the teacup, I kept thinking about the sense of aloofness brought by Komeiji Satori's mind-reading ability, so I tried my best to relax my gaze and give a faint smile, yet without appearing entirely approachable. My photographer friend had an amazing control over the lighting, and the post-processing didn't use excessive editing, preserving a soft and natural texture.
This shoot was not only a recreation of the character, but also an immersive experience into the Touhou Project world view. From the costume's color scheme to the pairing of props, a lot of thought was put into every single step. The hair color and makeup were also kept as close to the original setting as possible, hoping to present that unique temperament belonging to Satori. After finishing the shoot, I also especially liked this composition of sitting on the chair; the frame looks very full and blends highly with the environment. As a serious attempt at roleplay, I feel that recording a favorite character through photos is inherently a very meaningful thing in Anime-style photography.
