Just got back from shooting this Remilia cosplay, reviewed the photos on the computer, and wanted to quickly recap the shoot while it's fresh in my mind. The outfit is a red-and-white Lolita dress with multiple tiers on the skirt—beyond ruffles, it features translucent tulle ribbons that must be carefully straightened out to avoid tangling. Several layers of pearl necklaces across the chest and a red-and-white choker around the neck gave the ensemble exceptional texture. The wig is light purple, and trimming the front bangs took quite a while; paired with red contact lenses and reddish eye makeup, the gaze instantly took on a vampire aura.
The trickiest parts were the Devil wings on my back and that large red trident. The trident was much heavier than expected, leaving my arms aching after holding it for a while. During the shoot, we mostly used props to find the right angles, which helped make the skirt appear fluffier. Especially in the shots sitting on the red vintage leather sofa, with front fill light washing over, the White stockings reflected a subtle pink tint in the extensive red ambient light, and the leg contours blended harmoniously with the skirt pleats.
The first half was shot in a room with reddish-pink lighting, featuring a phonograph and carved mirror frames in the background, creating a rich Gothic style atmosphere. The two smartphone mirror selfies were quite convenient for finding angles on my own—though the background was a bit busy, the dreamy lighting looked great. The second half transitioned to a pure white studio backdrop with clean lighting, mainly to highlight the costume details and the striking contrast of the large wings. I cosplayed alongside my sister this time, taking duo photos together; under the red laser lights, her black-and-red styling against my red-and-white created a stark contrast with an imposing presence.
The key to the makeup was the eye and lip styling—red eyes with long lashes accentuated a cool, glamorous look. Huge thanks to my friend who helped adjust the skirt hem and manage lighting during the shoot. Because the skirt is voluminous, it was easy to step on it while walking, so I had to watch my steps carefully. Although the shoot was exhausting, the final results were very satisfying. Particularly the shots sitting against the white background holding the trident: the red-and-white palette and wings stood out brilliantly, with impeccable prop textures. This experience with a dark fairy tale feel was truly unforgettable.
