This time, we headed to an outdoor sandy beach to shoot this swimwear look for Shimoe Koharu. The Pink hair twin tails paired with a white sailor cap form the core signature of this styling. To withstand intense outdoor sunlight and sea breezes, the wig was heavily secured with setting spray; the textured layers at the tips were pre-styled with a curling iron and shaped with pomade for airy volume, just barely holding that effortlessly neat finish.
The wardrobe itself is filled with charming accents: the top is an off-the-shoulder white short-sleeve crop finished with delicate lace and ruffles, punctuated by a prominent oversized pink ribbon bow on the chest, while the matching swim briefs feature sweet little ribbon ties on both hips. The monochrome black-and-white feather wings on my back swayed gently with each step, injecting a touch of kinetic grace. Because we were shooting on real coastal sand, the ground was scorching underfoot, demanding quick, decisive takes for barefoot walking and standing. Fortunately, in Photo 2, leaning slightly against a blue-and-white swim ring provided great physical support—a posture that elongated my silhouette while beautifully showcasing leg lines and garment layering.
Controlling outdoor lighting proved quite tricky: strong sand reflections and harsh contrast can easily cast unflattering dark facial shadows. We aimed for diffused light along the edges of sun parasols or turned slightly in profile with the sun to ensure balanced, even facial exposure. Sun protection and makeup maintenance were paramount throughout the shoot; switching to a sweat-resistant, long-wear foundation, I blotted my nose and forehead every thirty minutes before dusting on translucent setting powder to prevent shine from breaking the character's dewy, translucent finish.
For pose direction, Koharu embodies a lovely gap-moe charm; despite wearing swimwear, the energy should never skew overly mature. In the shot pointing toward the camera, I lowered my center of gravity, letting my gaze convey a blend of tsundere pout and playful charm. The frames seated atop the wooden crate required meticulous adjustment due to the confined space and minimal hemline, carefully avoiding exposure while keeping the final compositions crisp and wholesome. Photo 2 remains my favorite: hand resting casually over the swim ring, torso erect yet relaxed, with a gentle head tilt toward the lens that strikes an ideal balance between full-body proportions and effortless engagement.
The overall shoot mood was delightfully relaxed—sunlight, lush coastal greenery, and fine sand resonated seamlessly with this summer-themed ensemble. From wig maintenance and wardrobe adjustments to postural control, every step was tuned toward recreating how the character would feel in this environment. I hope this series shares the crisp breeziness of a summer beach along with Koharu's adorable charm with everyone who sees it.
