[Shirasu Azusa Cosplay] Late-Night Photoshoot in Tracksuit Style from Blue Archive at Firefly ACG Expo

On the night of Firefly ACG Expo, the outdoor venue's lighting was just right. After being busy rushing between venues and preparing props recently, I finally managed to shoot this Shirasu Azusa cosplay in her tracksuit outfit accompanied by the small bird plushie.

When shooting this set, I was honestly a bit apprehensive. Shirasu Azusa from Blue Archive has a rich and delicate emotional arc, and people usually remember her in her formal school uniform. This time, I specifically chose this white T-shirt with blue trim and dark blue athletic shorts, paired with white socks and blue-and-white sneakers, aiming to present a slightly relaxed version of her wandering around the convention.

For the golden branch-like halo prop above my head, I spent a long time fine-tuning its curvature beforehand, while the purple flowers beside the headpiece served as a delicate touch. The white wings on my back differ slightly from her school uniform version—they are slightly larger with a soft, gentle texture across the feather surface, and crafting the intertwined purple floral decorations and golden vines required meticulous handiwork. Furthermore, there's the black plush doll in my arms. Featuring a round white face, two black bead eyes, a jet-black body, four small yellow paws, and a tiny pink heart detail on the tail, this doll is truly the soul of the entire ensemble.

The location for this shoot was an outdoor paved concrete lot, with background bokeh formed by the distinct night lighting of Firefly ACG Expo, creating beautiful blue and white light spots. Combining this ambient night lighting with speedlights brought out Shirasu Azusa's quiet yet subtly playful aura. Movement-wise, I tried several different poses. The first close-up featured both hands cradling the plushie with light-colored hair flowing down, creating an endearing look. In the second full-body shot, I stood on one leg while resting my chin on one hand, tilting my head up slightly to highlight my facial contours alongside a spirited expression that radiated energy. As for the third half-squatting pose, I raised one hand above my head to touch the golden halo while holding the doll in the other arm—a posture I felt best expressed spatial depth.

Shooting outdoors is genuinely tough, especially while wearing a pair of massive wings and repeatedly doing single-leg stands or half-squats where losing balance is easy without constant focus. Moreover, with lower night temperatures outdoors, staying in short sleeves and shorts got quite chilly after a while. Fortunately, feedback on site was fantastic. Many passing Senseis recognized Shirasu Azusa and noticed the plushie in my hands; seeing their surprised and delighted expressions during interactions made hours of prep completely worth it.

As a cosplayer, I have always attached great importance to atmospheric depth and detail expression in photos. For the wig this time, I intentionally selected a light greyish-purple with subtle violet undertones; the hair drape and facial makeup were kept subtle and natural rather than exaggerated, aiming for a more slice-of-life feel. The photographer also skillfully leveraged night lighting, preventing the background from falling completely black while highlighting the brightness of the character and props.

Although the process was quite demanding, I personally love this tracksuit-style cosplay very much. It breaks away from the character's typical serious or somber stereotype, adding a layer of relaxed ease that aligns closely with my evolving understanding of her. At the exact moment of shutter click, I was completely immersed in Shirasu Azusa's perspective, as if truly spending a relaxed 2D evening in that imaginative academy city.
