This photoshoot was set in a gymnasium, aiming to present a JK uniform style that blends youthful energy with a slightly sharp, athletic edge. For the attire, I chose a classic white short-sleeved Sailor suit paired with a navy blue pleated skirt, with the red scarf tie serving as the visual focal point of the outfit. To add dimension to the look, the hair was styled into straight black hair with blunt bangs tied into twintails on both sides and accented with fluffy white scrunchies—a combination that makes the character appear more lively on camera.
The scene was packed with rich props: vaulting boxes, volleyballs, traffic cones, and metal carts were all put to good use. The photographer and I experimented with incorporating these sports apparatuses to enrich the composition. For instance, sitting atop a vaulting box with an orange top cover, gently tugging the scarf tie with both hands and crossing my legs, used the geometric lines of the vaulting box to flatter the leg lines. The pairing of White stockings and the pleated skirt caught the eye effortlessly against the wooden flooring.
Controlling light was essential during the shoot. The gymnasium was fitted with blinds, through which natural light filtered in soft, diffused reflections that illuminated my facial contours and the texture of the White stockings cleanly, avoiding harsh shadows cast by glaring light. In addition, the gray lockers in the background and the wall calendar lent realistic lifestyle details to the setting, ensuring the spacious gym didn't look barren.
When posing, I made a conscious effort to keep my upper body upright while adjusting leg placements to shift the visual center of gravity—such as sitting cross-legged on the vaulting box or sitting on the floor embracing a traffic cone. Rather than exaggerating smiles, I maintained a relatively serene, slightly aloof gaze, creating a subtle contrast with the bright uniform. Hand placements were also critical: pulling at the scarf tie, resting against railings, or clasping hands over knees—these delicate gestures brought vitality to the character.
This session explored diverse spatial interactions, testing different compositional framing ratios across benches, equipment carts, and open space. Centered on the gymnasium theme, movement designs naturally favored utilizing sports equipment as fulcrums. The overall outcome achieved a structured orderliness with seamless synergy between props and posing, serving as a comprehensive record of this uniform style for these Cosplay photos.
