Born from the form of an old friend, yet permitted to possess a life of her own—this is the setting of Sandrone that attracts me the most. For this Genshin Impact Fatui the Seventh cosplay photoshoot, I didn't treat her entirely as a cold mechanical marionette, but instead incorporated more warm vintage elements. In terms of clothing, the details of this outfit are quite complex. A white tube top paired with a black waist corset featuring golden totems, inlaid with a ruby in the center. The sleeves are exaggerated multi-layered white trumpet sleeves, spliced with black and burgundy fabrics. The lower-body skirt hem features multi-layered ruffles, with the burgundy parts bearing starry dark patterns. I wore pure white tights, which visually contrast with the complexity of the upper body, adding a touch of cleanliness and purity to the overall frame. To match the marionette setting, the makeup used bright blue contact lenses, and glitter was sprinkled on the golden long curly hair, attempting to retain a bit of human nimbleness amidst the imagery of mathematics and gears.
The shooting scene was chosen in a study with a European retro style. Solid wood carved desk, dark leather seating, red velvet curtains, and a vintage fringe desk lamp and telephone on the desk. Tea fragrance, gears, mathematics—these elements intertwine, perfectly matching Sandrone's setting among the Fatui. I posed in many ways on the desk, such as letting my legs hang down naturally or sitting cross-legged on the edge of the desk, mainly to showcase the stacked feel of the white stockings and skirt hem. The upper body was slightly tilted to let the gorgeousness of the multi-layered sleeves unfold in the frame. Throughout the shoot, I kept adjusting the relaxation of my posture; after all, as a marionette gaining life, the movements shouldn't be too stiff, but rather possess a sense of openness like someone who has just gained self-awareness.
This shoot used the Hasselblad X2D II 100C, and the image quality and resolving power of this camera are truly surprising. Under warm-toned lighting, the gold thread patterns on the clothes, the refraction of the rubies, and even the hair strands of the wig were recorded very clearly. To match this machine's texture, I spent a lot of time on makeup styling and clothing organization, ensuring every fold looked natural. During the shoot, the photographer and I constantly communicated about lighting angles, ultimately choosing side-backlighting to highlight the outlines of the figure and skirt hem. For cosplay, costume and scene restoration are one part; more importantly, it is how to use lens language to express one's understanding of the character's backstory. As the seventh seat, Sandrone's story continues, and in this photoshoot, I also had a silent dialogue with her.
