Having worn this Wang Zhaojun Ice and snow themed cosplay outfit for an entire day at the expo, my most immediate impression was its sheer complexity. The long blue wig needed thorough smoothing beforehand, otherwise it tangles easily in the convention crowds. The white plush faux fur headdress paired with the wig got a bit stuffy after prolonged wear, but was manageable under the venue's air conditioning. For makeup, to accentuate the icy aesthetic, I specially chose bright blue colored contacts, painted a snowflake motif on my forehead, and dotted both cheeks with liquid white highlighter. Setting the base makeup firmly was crucial, as high indoor temperatures and packed crowds can easily cause oiliness and makeup breakdown.
The long staff prop in my hands was the centerpiece. To ensure optimal photographic results on site, the prop was specially reinforced and carried noticeable weight. Gripping the staff put significant strain on my hands, so I adjusted my grip positioning multiple times to prevent the pose from faltering. The setting for these Convention photos was a custom scenic zone built by the organizers, styled into a dark-toned snowy realm. Combined with on-site snow machines and lighting, it truly captured that unyielding, eternal chill. To stay faithful to the character, I wore light-blue opera gloves; the wristguards' metallic hardware was rigid, fastened tightly with velcro, creating a certain stiffness in movement. The splicing of white plush fur and deep blue fabric across the shoulders enhanced visual layering, but also added overall thickness, requiring vigilance while walking so the skirt hem wouldn't be stepped on.
Regarding facial expressions, I strove to maintain a calm, serene chill, looking straight into the lens while aligning with the tilted angle of the prop for the composition. Communication with the photographer went very smoothly, primarily locking onto facial expressions and the staff's extended lines. The first photo was candidly captured when the snow effect was at its thickest, with bokeh orbs and snowflakes drifting in front of the lens to form a gorgeous natural foreground. Being able to faithfully recreate these details on site at the expo makes me thoroughly satisfied with this cosplay set.
