[Houshou Marine cosplay] VTuber Captain Unlocking a Mysterious Treasure Chest in a Vintage Study Shoot

"Captain, hurry up and open that chest!"—that line kept looping through my mind throughout this shoot. To recreate the singular presence of VTuber Houshou Marine in this Captain cosplay, I deliberately chose a vintage study adorned with antique bookshelves, a grandfather clock, and a retro phonograph as the setting.

When I first laid hands on this costume, I was immediately captivated by the intricate harmony of red, black, and gold. The gold piping along the vest, the crisp white lapel design, and the sapphire blue gemstone pendant across the chest all demanded flawless textural presentation in front of the lens. Although the reddish-purple gradient wig was tricky to style, brushing it thoroughly revealed fantastic dimension; paired with the red-and-white lace hair accessory and the black tricorn pirate hat, the character's visual identity was instantly unmistakable. For overall aesthetic harmony, I selected sheer Black stockings trimmed with lace along the tops, paired with brownish-red ankle boots and white wrist-cuffed gloves, effortlessly channeling the pirate Captain's aggressive yet poised elegance.

I was completely enchanted by the lighting in this shoot. The photographer utilized warm amber side-backlighting to illuminate the crimson hair and red vest, giving the frame an oil-painting-like vintage warmth. Sitting on the leather sofa holding a vintage flintlock prop, or cradling a white skull model in one hand, I strove to embody the Captain's confident, effortless composure. Along the way, I also tried sitting on the other side of the sofa holding an antique book, or leaning against the bar counter adjusting my gloves; surrounding props like the birdcage, fruit, and red roses were immense assets, preventing the frames from feeling barren.

Midway through the session, we readjusted the gun-holding angles multiple times: because the flintlock prop had substantial weight and the sleeves were lined with metallic accents, my arms were constantly exerting hidden tension to keep the posture sharp. Yet seeing how beautifully the Black stockings and leg lines emerged under the light, alongside the dramatic compositional tension, made every ounce of effort worthwhile. Portraying this VTuber Captain requires not only capturing her lavish attire, but also projecting that deep-seated aura of mystery and nonchalant charm. This official cosplay set fulfilled a long-held dream, and I hope everyone enjoys these frames steeped in suspense and vintage allure.
