The daytime sunlight at Xuhui Riverside was fairly harsh, but when paired with the white staircase, it produced striking geometric lines. With the river breeze constantly sweeping past, the skirt fluttered non-stop; capturing dynamic in-motion shots was demanding, requiring us to crouch and wait patiently for that exact split-second when the pleats lifted gracefully.
This JK uniform outfit was paired with cat ears and white tights. The feline face motifs on the socks remained clear under direct sun, though because of the sheer texture of the White stockings, intense light risked blown-out highlights, requiring deliberate exposure compensation. The pleated skirt possessed excellent drape, so instead of tangling awkwardly in the wind, it added kinetic flow to the frame.
For gear, we used the Sony 50-150mm GM, a focal range exceptionally practical for outdoor Portrait photography that handles environmental wide shots and tight close-ups alike. Posing on the stairs, the telephoto compression cleanly flattened background architecture and railings while cutting out distracting background foliage. For the vending machine shot, lifting one leg helped anchor the skirt's shape against the wind, which, paired with cat-paw hand poses, injected extra playfulness.
The crisp geometric lines of the white steps, transparent glass doors, and vending machines offered great set variety with fewer crowds. Managing stark shadow lines along the steps highlighted translucent skin tones. Post-processing focused on unifying the palette, preserving the warm sunlit mood, lifting shadows, and gently softening contrast to keep the composition airy, clean, and textured.
