[Daji Cosplay] Today's Share of My Signature Hero from Honor of Kings

Doing this Daji makeup and styling set was something I had wanted to try for a long time. As a remarkably classic tutorial guide hero in Honor of Kings, her fox-eared look and red-and-gold color scheme outfit have always been a timeless classic in many players' hearts. The initial intention of this shoot was not only out of love for this character, but also to review my recent makeup and styling skills.

Completing the entire look actually required more effort and care than imagined. First was that pair of plush animal ears; to achieve a fluffy yet three-dimensional tactile sensation, I specially selected high-quality faux fox fur when choosing headpiece materials. When wearing them, I also had to account for the bangs' position, repeatedly adjusting the height so they would blend naturally into the overall head proportions without looking jarring or like an alien attachment.

Next was the hairstyle: long straight chestnut hair paired with slightly airy straight bangs. Wanting to create that naturally smooth effect as if blown by a gentle breeze, the wig required a long time to groom before leaving home. I combed it multiple times using warm water and detangling spray, ensuring the hair strands maintained great gloss during indoor photography while staying close to the character's gentle and slightly languid aura.

Speaking of makeup, this time I focused on a sweet yet alluring vibe. Since Daji is a fox-eared girl full of spirituality and a touch of charm, I deliberately elongated the outer corners of my eyes in the eye makeup and used light brown contact lenses to enhance depth in my gaze. The base makeup was kept very clean; because indoor lighting was complex, ensuring natural transitions between highlights and shadows was necessary to present a soft, glowing, translucent texture during anime style selfies. For lip color, a watery tomato red was chosen, which highlighted a healthy complexion while retaining a youthful romance.

The details of the costume are actually very distinctive, featuring a classic red-and-gold woven pairing. The gold piping at the neckline and the red diamond gem accent in the center make the top look richly textured. Many easily overlook the undergarment, but I specially added a black mesh inner layer, creating a great visual contrast with the red outer garment while adding depth to the overall outfit. The textured gold armlet on the arm, though carrying some weight, faithfully recreated that touch of playfulness of the character.

This time I took indoor anime style selfies. Compared to studio photography with wide apertures, selfies make it easier to capture lively expressions during instant camera interactions. In the selfie photos, I intentionally made hand gestures and eye contact with the camera, attempting to recreate that adorable yet elusive personality of the character. The hardest part of cosplaying one's signature hero is expression: simply putting on clothes and a wig is merely a resemblance; true recreation requires affection for the character in one's heart, using personal understanding to interpret every subtle micro-expression.

Cosplaying this character always brings back memories of when I first started playing the game—those wobbly beginner matches where Daji was truly a powerful companion accompanying everyone's growth. As a cosplayer, reinterpreting her in my own way during makeup, styling, and shooting is not only fulfilling a childhood dream, but also a tribute.

Though the photos are static, the preparation behind them, the seriousness of standing before the mirror repeatedly adjusting the wig angle, and the effort to merge with the character with every shutter click are all real. I hope this Daji cosplay selfie share brings a fresh feeling to those who love this character and this style of traditional Chinese style cosplay. Looking at it from another perspective, every cosplay is a process of pushing past self-perception—putting on this outfit and wearing these ears, I just want to present my best state.
