For this Xiao Qiao photoshoot from Honor of Kings, the styling concept aimed to maximize the visual punch of the Pink color scheme while capturing the character's sprightly vitality. Starting with wardrobe details, the dress fabric features delicate jacquard weaving that looks exquisite in person and reflects three-dimensional depth under studio strobes. The deep brown halter-neck accent echoes the matching choker, while the plunging V-neckline highlights the collarbone. The sleeves adopt a detached construction, fastened with silver metal O-rings to flared bell sleeves edged in silver metallic piping. The skirt flares into an A-line silhouette detailed with silver-gray geometric ribbons and diamond motifs, trailing into a long rear train for rich dimensional layering.

Regarding props, the giant folding fan is without doubt the showstopper of this look. The fan leaf features radiating pink stripes embellished with white sakura cherry blossoms, edged with metallic stud accents. Opening it smoothly with a single hand while holding a flawless arc before the lens required constant arm and core tension—a genuine physical test. Checking the pivot joint for smooth opening action before departing was crucial to avoid mechanical catches during takes.

The wig was styled in pastel pink, gathered into twin odango buns on either side. Generous styling product was applied at the roots to ensure organic hair separation without looking dense or stiff. For makeup, to harmonize with the pink hair, the eyeshadow and blush shared a unified peach-pink palette, complemented by soft hazel-brown contact lenses to soften the gaze. The base had to be immaculate, as powerful studio strobes instantly amplify any minute skin imperfection.

The lower half is a standout feature: form-fitting white-to-pink ombré Stockings. Shifting smoothly from thigh to ankle, this gradual deepening slenderizes leg lines visually. Petal-shaped pink garters strap around the thighs, resonating with the skirt's motifs. When wearing gradient Stockings, ensuring seamless, wrinkle-free color alignment across knees and ankles is paramount. Paired with chunky bright pink platform block heels, the silhouette gains elongated proportions and statuesque posture. Ankle strap buckles provided stability while walking, though taking breaks between takes remained necessary to relieve arch pressure.

In terms of poses, the first shot featured a slightly bent knee, bringing one hand to the cheek for a winking smile while firmly anchoring the fan behind my back, channeling Xiao Qiao's buoyant, playful spirit. Controlling balance in this stance required turning slightly three-quarters to display waist and leg contours cleanly without blocking the body with the oversized prop. The second frame maintained an upright posture with feet together, grasping the fan behind me with both hands to present frontal symmetry and clean tailoring. Plentiful studio lighting brought out the subtle jacquard weave and fan details with crystalline clarity.

Overall, the costume tailoring fits like a glove and the prop balance carries tangible presence, offering fantastic angles for both static poses and candid captures. Preparing for characters bearing voluminous skirts and weighty props demands mentally walking through poses beforehand to convey canonical spirit effortlessly—a shoot that granted me valuable new insights into managing heavy costumes and stage props.
