Can't wait for summer—I want to play in the water! This set of underwater and poolside photos finally has a chance to be organized and shared with everyone. Looking at these raw shots, a refreshing wave of summer vibes hits right in the face. In this temperature, shooting summer-themed Anime cosplay photos is a small test of physical strength and energy, but for this level of crystal-clear feel, I think it's totally worth it.
Let's first talk about overall shoot planning. We chose a very transparent outdoor pool with a high-saturation mint green wall as the backdrop, which combined with water reflections to instantly max out the cool visual experience. Regarding lighting, sunlight was very intense back then, but fortunately water acted as a giant reflector, throwing light very evenly onto face and body without needing complex artificial light sources to achieve a transparent effect. To keep the frame clean, we didn't use overly complex set designs; the core prop was a blue-and-white woven plastic lounge chair. Immersed in water, when shooting, the water level just covered the chair legs, giving a marvelous feeling of being surrounded by water when sitting down, making it the central interactive prop of this photoset.
In terms of styling and outfit selection, this blue-and-white color-blocked Sailor swimsuit cosplay outfit was perfect for waterside scenes. The white sailor collar with dark navy waist-cinching offered great visual layering with a vibrant, fresh flavor. Paired with a light golden-pink twintail wig and a white sailor hat with a dark blue bow tie, overall color coordination formed a very comfortable cool-tone contrast against the green wall and blue sky. Dark silicone wristbands on wrists and matching thigh straps added detail richness, avoiding a bland frame. Though just a swimsuit look, combing out the wig, styling fringe and adjusting hat angles took plenty of time, all while preventing water from messing it up during Summer waterside photography.
Regarding visual composition, we put in a lot of thought. Shooting attempted multiple angles to capture different moods. The first knee-hugging curled pose made the overall figure look delicate while highlighting detailed lines of hands and feet. The third pose—leaning back with one leg raised—better showcased back curves and natural leg extensions. To keep compositional balance, the photographer deliberately chose a low angle, letting the sky take up a larger proportion so the subject appeared taller. Moving in water wasn't easy; every seat adjustment created mild water ripples, but this accidentally formed lively, refracting light ripples in the background.
For posing during this Poolside photoshoot, we tried to keep movements relaxed and natural. Across several seated shots, we experimented with curling up, sitting upright, and extending legs straight into water. Since the chair was half-submerged, center of gravity needed to stay stable to maintain balance. In one seated shot, I supported myself with both hands on the chair surface while leaning slightly forward, better displaying neckline details and natural posture. In another single-leg raised shot, water splashes and light reflections gave skin texture an exceptionally great finish. During a standing shot, while preparing a stretching motion, wind blew my hair, and together with the pink flower decoration on the skirt, the scene came alive.
As for retouches and post-processing, everyone might notice that on a looking-back photo, I added a cute brown bear sticker over the hip and thigh area. This was mainly to block angles that might trigger controversy over exposure, serving as a fun, lively touch to a slightly sexy waterside shoot. This sticker technique is quite common in cosplay showcases—preserving photo aesthetics while avoiding unnecessary misunderstandings, making it a post-processing choice balancing aesthetics and practicality.
I really love bringing this 2D style into real-world summer vibes. Although water felt a bit chilly during the shoot, once the body adapted under outdoor sunlight, constantly adjusting angles to the camera's rhythm—feeling breezes sweep across the water onto my face while capturing sunlight filtering through hair strands—was a deeply healing experience. To capture clear underwater reflections, we tested many angles, specifically snapping as ripples formed, where water refraction and light transmission truly tested the photographer's timing.
