[Denia Cosplay] Cool Wuthering Waves Time by the Summer Pool

I did an outdoor pool location shoot for Denia's summer swimsuit look from Wuthering Waves. The recent weather has been consistently hot, making outdoor activities inherently challenging. However, choosing a pool as the shooting location turned this session into a perfect way to beat the heat. Since the post mentions this is normal pool attire, I tried my best to choose a pink two-piece summer swimsuit that has a strong daily feel and is easy to move in during preparation.

The color scheme of this outfit is mainly white, pink, and light blue, matching the white, pink, and blue gradient wig beautifully. The small white wing hair accessories on top of the head, paired with flowers accented by yellow pistils and blue details, add visual richness. The swimsuit design itself includes some ruffled decorations, leaning the overall style towards cute and casual. Under the outdoor natural light, the water surface by the pool and the surrounding plant background pair up with this outfit perfectly, creating sharp color contrasts that easily build a fresh summer atmosphere.

During the shoot, we switched between several different poses based on the scene. First, I sat on the edge of the pool, putting my feet in the water to feel the flow, with the water reflections casting directly onto my legs, forming natural wavy lights and shadows. The side-lying posture in Photo 3 is a camera angle I really like from this session; leaning diagonally against the pool edge with my arms hanging naturally not only flatters the body lines but also conveys a lazy, relaxed mood. Photo 4 shows me lying prone right by the pool edge, resting my chin on my hands and looking at the camera. This friendly sense of interaction bridges the distance between the photos and the audience beautifully.

Regarding the use of light, this time we mainly relied on outdoor natural light. Although the sun was blazing, the broad-leaved plants grown around the pool formed large shaded areas. This shade served perfectly as a natural softbox, making the light shining on the skin very even and soft. The light spots reflected off the water surface casted different highlights on the face or clothes from various angles. This realistic play of light and shadow is hard to simulate in post-processing and is a texture unique to an outdoor pool location shoot.

The photographer maintained an excellent sense of rhythm during this shoot. We didn't speed up the shooting process due to the hot weather; instead, we slowed down the pace, constantly adjusting the camera angles with every pose change. Combining props like the lounge chairs and transparent swim rings in the background, we made the visual elements rich but not cluttered. This collaborative mode allowed me to perform more naturally in front of the lens, without any stiffness of being forced to pose. All expressions and movements perfectly matched the theme of a leisurely summer vacation.

For the makeup, I chose a very transparent, natural-looking base. Since playing with water easily causes sweating, I selected products with good waterproof performance to ensure the makeup stayed stable throughout the entire shoot. The eye makeup avoided heavy, intense lines, instead gently sweeping the contours with light-colored eyeshadow, and the eyeliner wasn't drawn too long. The whole look was centered around the core concept of being "refreshing." Regarding the hair, although the wig was quite long, it didn't get messy by the pool due to the wind or environment; instead, it maintained excellent fluffiness.

In fact, when preparing this set of photos, I intentionally avoided highly artistic, hardcore visual effects, opting instead for an outfit closer to casual summer water activities. Often, people's impression of cosplay involves heavy wigs and intricate costumes, but putting on a simple summer swimsuit and relaxing by the pool can equally showcase the character's charm in another dimension. The character's inherent traits combined with the summer sunshine serve as the best decoration.

Looking back at this set of photos as a whole after the shoot, I feel it precisely captured the exact sense of coolness I wanted. There was no deliberate over-posing, nor was there posing just for the sake of showing off—it was simply wearing comfortable clothes in the hot summer and doing what I wanted to do by the water. I find this way of recording much more comfortable than heavily staged photoshoots, and I hope everyone who sees this set can feel this exclusive summer coolness.
