When cosplaying Young Vertin, I kept wondering what color her childhood would have been had that "Storm" never arrived. Bringing to life this Young Vertin concept envisioned by artist 不眠酶 was truly a special experience for me.

To restore this character faithfully, considerable groundwork went into pre-production. Young Vertin's costume carries a distinctive British academy style flair. I selected a crisp, structured white short-sleeved collared shirt tied with a vivid red ribbon bow at the neck, layered under a deep navy pinafore dress. The hem falls right at knee length, where the pleated skirt flares out beautifully during movement and dynamic poses. For headwear, a black beret anchored the silver-white straight hair neatly. The wig was finely thinned and styled with neat blunt bangs, lending the face a more youthful and natural innocence. For makeup, I avoided heavy ornamentation, centering the look on a translucent base with soft blush, paired with desaturated lip color to accentuate a child's pure authenticity.

The prop was a light yellow long-handled umbrella dotted with white polka dots. Serving as one of the key visual anchors in the frame, the bright yellow formed a sharp contrast against the dark dress, enlivening the entire palette against the open blue sky. For footwear, I coordinated white slouchy socks evocative of White stockings styling paired with black leather shoes, aligning with retro period fashion while adding textural depth to the lower half.

The weather on the shoot day was breathtaking—a crystalline blue sky dotted with fluffy white clouds. The location was set within a park featuring playground amenities. To embody the "what-if-no-Storm" premise, pose choreography emphasized freedom and vitality: kicking one leg backward with arms outstretched, or turning sideways with umbrella in hand. These stances not only showcased the flutter of the pleated skirt, but also gracefully elongated leg lines in the composition. I sought to express through body language the carefree joy and relaxation that a young girl free from looming shadows deserved to have.

Throughout the session, sunlight washed over my face and the canopy of the umbrella, casting organic light and shadow. I maintained an innocent, gentle smile, gazing into the lens or out into the distance. Though portraying the youth of a character bound to a heavy destiny, in this singular moment, I simply wanted her to bask in the sun and gentle breeze. Post-production steered clear of complicated visual effects, relying on natural high saturation and prime daylight to preserve the genuine emotional state of the character.

Looking at the overall aesthetic, pairing the dark pinafore dress with white socks and black shoes visually flattered leg proportions, while the polka-dot umbrella broke any monotony in the dark palette. Capturing this imagined, tender moment through the camera lens made for an immensely joyful cosplay experience.
