For this Wuthering Waves Changli Swimsuit cosplay shoot, I chose an outdoor pool as our location. I handled the photography behind the camera myself, with Yuchuan starring as the model. Changli's swimsuit design retains the signature pink-and-white palette of her original attire. To achieve high character fidelity, the wig was customized with a smooth pink-to-white gradient, crowned with golden wheat-ear hairpins and those instantly recognizable oversized circular earrings. To complete the styling, red gloves were paired along the arms, a ruby choker adorned the neck, and the lower half featured a high-slit pink skirt layered beneath a translucent white chiffon cover-up.

Executing a cosplay shoot submerged in water truly challenges both physical poise and shooting stability. Although the pool depth reached only mid-thigh, the buoyancy and hydrodynamic drag demanded extra physical endurance to sustain each pose. In the first shot, touching an index finger lightly to the lips was designed to convey Changli's sly, knowing elegance; combined with the subtle ripples across the water, the result was exceptionally dynamic. The second and third shots explored crossed arms and a one-handed lateral extension, focusing on the sharp upper tailoring of the swimsuit and the fluid, streamlined contours of the skirt drifting in the current.

Natural light provided wonderful surprises throughout this session. The outdoor water surface acted like a massive natural bounce board, rendering skin textures with translucent clarity, while the pink textiles took on a soft, supple sheen under the sun. There were minor hurdles along the way: gusts of wind drifting the skirt across the water required constant vigilance against wardrobe malfunctions; the sheer chiffon cover-up clinged to the arms once soaked, which inadvertently heightened visual layering; and the red gloves bled slight pigment in the water, meaning they had to be secured and refreshed between takes to maintain pristine styling.

Additionally, moss along the pool floor made the surface quite slippery, making pre-shoot site inspections and water testing essential. To prevent slips from stalling progress, many stances had to be carefully adjusted within a controlled range. For makeup, azure contact lenses paired with crimson smudging along the outer eye corners effectively accentuated Changli's captivating, singular allure.

Over my years in cosplay, I have grown increasingly fond of challenges involving direct environmental interaction. From selecting fabrics and verifying garment patterns in pre-production to spending half a day submerged in water managing facial expressions on set, every step is aimed at breaking the fourth wall and bringing the character tangibly to life. Though final frames received digital color grading and lighting touch-ups, the aquatic ambiance and character expression matched our vision completely, making this a thoroughly rewarding creative journey.
