I spent the entire day at the Changsha Anime Convention wearing this pink modified kimono. This outfit has many color details, primarily light pink, with a splice design of light blue and pale purple at the neckline, and patterns with orange textures at the shoulders. The wide cuffs are pink on the outside and feature a gradient effect of light blue and deeper purple on the inside. The red wide belt at the waist is very eye-catching, and a deep blue geometric-textured ribbon hangs right from the middle of the sash. That curled stray hair strand on top of the head and the golden-orange wig, combined with the white-lined plush beast ears on both sides, are the soul of the entire look. To match the character's temperament, I specially chose emerald green colored contacts paired with natural makeup, making my gaze look crystal clear and bright.
During the shooting process, the photographer particularly liked having me do the action of pointing my two index fingers at each other, or raising my hands to make a cute grasping motion. Especially in the first photo, I found myself looking quite derpy and adorable. I prepared a white plush rug as a shooting prop; sitting on it not only creates a soft color pairing with the pink of the costume but also makes the entire frame look softer and warmer. Because of the short modified kimono design, when taking full-body convention photos or sitting poses, the exposed calves also become part of the frame, and the golden chain at the ankle just happens to serve as a detailed decoration.
The live scene at the convention that day was highly popular. Overhead were the high ceilings of the massive exhibition hall and industrial-style lighting, which gave the clothing an excellent texture under the light. The entire photography process went very smoothly; fellow photographers would guide me to adjust my sitting posture and hand placement, and I didn't need to intentionally act too mature. Instead, slightly clumsy postures best fit the state of this character. I think the greatest joy of restoring such characters is being able to openly act cute.
Although I would occasionally accidentally mess up the stray hair strand on top of my head and organizing the large sleeves took some time, those little interludes turned into joyful memories of the photoshoot. Watching myself merge into the atmosphere of the convention in this exquisite outfit, the reality of crossing the dimensional wall felt incredibly genuine. During breaks, I also tried using my gaze and expressions to convey the character's emotions, trying my best to let each photo have a different emotional expression. This is not just about putting on a set of clothes; it also requires body language to make the character come alive in front of the lens. I am overall quite satisfied with the photo results of that day, especially those of me sitting on the rug, which look both natural and approachable. Although the convention environment was noisy, as long as you dedicate yourself wholeheartedly, you can shoot the exact frames you want.
