The overall effect of this White studio photography shoot turned out even better than I expected. When I first saw the white Roman columns, semi-sheer tulle curtains, and strings of pearls arranged on set, I felt they matched Arturia's temperament perfectly.
To complement this clean background, we simplified the lighting significantly, utilizing large areas of negative space paired with strong, cool-toned light to highlight the details of the character herself and her props. The black feathers scattered on the floor were added temporarily; the intense visual contrast between black and white instantly gave the frame dynamic tension. The craftsmanship of this outfit is exquisite. The edges of the white asymmetrical jacket are outlined with black lines, while the chest and cuffs are adorned with golden geometric patterns. Especially the black neckerchief and the metal buckle at the waist push the texture of the details to the max.
To restore the character's cool and somewhat aloof vibe, I tried many makeup looks, ultimately focusing on the eye makeup. I used a red-purple gradient blending paired with light-colored contact lenses to make the gaze as piercing as possible. The wig is long, straight black hair with a silver-gray gradient highlight at the tips, topped with that uniquely shaped black spiky crown. During the shoot, to capture the dynamic feel of the hair drifting in the wind, the photographer had me turn quickly. While trying my best to control my expression, I also had to pay attention to the force of the hair flip, repeating it several times before achieving the current effect.
The prop is a very substantial black stringed instrument staff, featuring an exquisite circular hollow structure and a white bridge. Holding it requires not only maintaining an elegant posture but also paying attention to the finger placement on the strings and bridge, making hand exertion actually quite tiring. The lower half of this outfit is a pleated short skirt with golden stripes and lace trims on the hem, paired with thin black tights and high heels, visually lengthening the leg lines. The patterned design on the Stockings and beautiful legs adds great texture under strong light and enhances the overall layering.
The entire shooting process required constant adjustment of positions to ensure a harmonious relationship of light and shadow between the subject, props, and background. White studio photography might look simple, but to achieve a high-end feel, the demands on clothing texture, subject posture, and lighting coordination are actually extremely high.
