This Hundred Battles skin for Shayol Wei was truly challenging in terms of material textures. To capture the authentic specular sheen of the Patent leather jacket, we tested several lighting setups before shooting. The laboratory set in Photos 1 and 2 was staged in advance; a black backdrop accented with cyan-blue neon tubes offered smooth highlight transitions across reflective fabrics. Because the peaked cap, jacket, and knee-high boots are all crafted from high-gloss materials, any misplaced light could easily make them appear cheap. We fitted softboxes to all primary keys and used rim lighting to chisel out sharp edges. While the strappy lace-up design of the boots looks visually stunning, it felt quite restrictive during standing poses—so for Photo 2, I sank back into the office chair, which turned out unexpectedly photogenic and flattered the natural lines of my legs.
For makeup, I dialed back the character's sweeter traits, deepening the eye contours and applying cool-toned highlighters to echo the sleek leather texture. The wig was styled with subtle waves for a casual, effortless drape. Laboratory props like microscopes, test tubes, and computer towers, bathed in cold fluorescent tube light, amplified the cyberpunk and sci-fi aesthetic to the maximum. As the cosplayer in front of the lens, I have to say mastering light and shadow is paramount to achieving high-end image quality.
As for the bonus in Photo 3: as an avid gamer whose daily routine alternates between cosplaying and climbing ranks, Photo 3 shows my recent ranked match results screen, with the center stats panel being mine. Although I cosplayed Shayol Wei for this shoot, my go-to main in ranked is actually Kurumi. The rallying cry 'Invincible Kurumi on the move' is no exaggeration—4 rescues and 35,440 healing output make for a rock-solid pillar in any squad. After securing the win, I slipped the screenshot onto the end of the post. Looking closely, the black-and-gold textures of the Hundred Battles skin harmonize seamlessly with the UI palette of the match settlement screen.
Posing for this set was a demanding process; we had to prevent harsh highlight blowouts from the reflective fabrics while balancing compositional proportions. Yet seeing the final deliverables made it all worthwhile—glossy materials before the camera truly project that alluring, cold, and slightly perilous edge. Combined with the glassware scattered around the lab, the chromatic contrast in each frame is remarkably striking. The Hundred Battles concept carries a fierce combat identity, so I favored bolder postures, such as holding the brim of my cap with both hands in Photo 1 while keeping my gaze detached and cool. Hope everyone enjoys this rendition of Shayol Wei's Hundred Battles, and fellow players are always welcome to drop by and share gameplay tips.
