Wearing this Viper gear from VALORANT, the most immediate sensation was pure sweltering heat. The black Patent leather jacket spliced with fluorescent green was completely non-breathable in order to capture that sleek reflective sheen seen in the reference; combined with the high-zip collar and tactical harness straps, wearing the full set left me drenched in sweat. Yet to truly do this character justice, these physical ordeals were nothing.
The first three photos showcase half-body close-ups and full-body combat poses respectively. In Photos 1 and 2, the makeup focus was on vibrant green contact lenses paired with heavier eye makeup, striving to recreate that cold, brooding gaze. The green luminous device in hand was actually a DIY-modded prop with built-in LED lights—lightweight, yet holding it up for extended periods still strained the arm. In Photo 3, I donned the gas mask and full combat loadout; the sci-fi firearm was a heavy resin prop, and combined with knee pads, tactical pouches, and heeled tall boots, nailing the pivoting squat-and-shoot pose in this Tactical style took multiple attempts to balance my center of gravity.
Ambient light on set was extremely dim, relying primarily on green ambient backlights and heavy smoke cakes to cultivate the atmosphere. To embody that iconic line, "Who shall I suffocate first?", I put considerable effort into controlling facial expressions and breathing rhythm. The smoke itself was pungent, and breathing was restricted inside the mask, yet that perfectly channeled that oppressive, dangerous sensation. The industrial steel frames and floor-to-ceiling windows on set, together with specular reflections off the floor, saved immense work in post-production.
Many friends asked if cosplaying such a character—with a high ponytail, dark palette, and full-coverage suit—was exhausting. Frankly, the physical exertion was immense, especially with the squatting pose in Photo 3 where high heels made balancing tricky. Yet witnessing the aggressive visual spectacle framed by swirling Green toxic gas on camera made every second worthwhile. This combat suit not only tests the cosplayer's stamina, but also the photographer's ability to freeze dynamic light and shadow. We avoided excessive skin-smoothing filters in post, preserving genuine skin texture, which felt much truer to this hardcore sci-fi aesthetic.
From initial costume tailoring and prop painting to final test shoots, every step was geared toward matching the lore. Seeing that menacing presence lurking in the shadows, ready to deploy deadly Green toxic gas at any second in the final cuts, hit the exact effect I envisioned.
