[Shen Miao cosplay] NARAKA: BLADEPOINT: The Magical Transformation of This Jade Rabbit Fairy

Sharing this cosplay creation of Shen Miao in NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, blending elements of Jade Rabbit cosplay and Chang'e cosplay. For this theme, I chose a traditional style visual combining ethereal elegance and mythology. The core philosophy behind the overall look was to preserve the character's dreamy aura while incorporating a lighter physical texture.

The head styling was the very first thing finalized. A long white wig paired with oversized plush rabbit ears—this large ear design is visually striking. During material selection, white faux fur with pink shading on the inner side was specifically chosen so that under warm lighting, it can transmit a subtle blood-vessel-like texture reminiscent of real ears, looking lively rather than stiff. Securing the ears also took some effort; an invisible mesh base was added to ensure stability across various movements. Golden exquisite floral crowns and hairpins were used for hair decoration, adding metallic highlights to the all-white color palette.

For costume fabrics, I chose lightweight, semi-transparent mint-green outer gauze paired with a bright yellow embroidered tube top inner lining. The off-the-shoulder design highlights the shoulder and neck lines nicely, while the wide sleeves combined with a floor-length gauze skirt create a floating, airy effect when worn. The yellow wide belt at the waist and bright orange long tassels act as striking contrasts, visually elongating the lower body proportions. Hidden on both sides of the gauze skirt are subtle red maple leaf patterns, adding a pop of color punch to the fresh and elegant palette, making this traditional outfit not only ethereal but also rich in details.

The props were also a crucial part of this photoshoot. The traditional red-and-white umbrella and the black-handled cane with a gold head were both custom-made props. The umbrella's red and white color scheme and golden wooden ribs cleverly echo the colors of the outfit. In particular, for the metal bells and tassel ornaments, I specifically kept their highlights during post-processing color grading to highlight the refinement of the overall look. The delicate gold chain on the ankle served as a lovely accent when sitting, and going barefoot was key to recreating the character's carefree, weightless feel.

For the shooting scene, I chose an indoor traditional-style studio setup. Wooden lattice screens, artificial pink cherry blossom branches, and traditional Chinese painting scrolls in the background created a rich classical ambiance. This spatial layout sets off the character's temperament wonderfully. During the shoot, key lighting and rim lighting were utilized to cast a soft glow on the edges of the white rabbit ears and wig while showcasing the translucency of the gauze skirt to its fullest, giving the whole frame a warm tone akin to aged Xuan paper. During post-processing, I deliberately preserved the real skin texture without excessive skin smoothing, bringing a more authentic feel of the character stepping into reality.

As an immersive character creation journey, a lot of thought was invested from early preparation and costume selection to final makeup. This was more than just putting on clothes for photos; it was an attempt to capture the character's true essence. Especially during the studio shoot, to better showcase the flowing movement of the gauze skirt, I experimented with various standing and sitting poses. The final set of photos selected achieved my envisioned effect in both composition and expression. I hope everyone can feel the clever design behind this costume through this set of photos.
