[Nahida Cosplay] Genshin Impact: Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo Day 1 Lawn Shoot Log

The first day of the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo wrapped up beautifully as the official activity for our Archon squad. This time, I cosplayed the Dendro Archon Nahida from Genshin Impact, mainly wanting to take advantage of the great weather in South China to shoot a natural set of outdoor lawn photos under real, natural light.

I was incredibly lucky to be one of the twenty members in the Archon squad. The entire team moved in a highly organized manner, and we found a wooded area outside the exhibition hall that was perfect for shooting. It not only helped us dodge the heavy crowds but also offered a lawn texture that matched the character's elemental setting perfectly.

The green Dendro Slime plush prop in my hands is the most eye-catching element of the entire gear. Its plush material presents a soft, non-reflective texture under outdoor light. Paired with its iconic white star-shaped eyes, it visually neutralizes the complex details of the costume, giving the overall frame a clear focal point.

The styling of the wig this time primarily features a white-and-green gradient effect. To prevent the hair ends from looking too flat, I pre-adjusted the flow of the hair strands to give them a natural outward-flaring curve. While preserving the character's signature bangs, the side and back pieces were also finely trimmed, ensuring that when the outdoor wind blows, the wig doesn't look stiff but instead interacts beautifully with the forest breeze.

The design highlights of the costume are concentrated on the stitching and weaving elements of the upper body. The collar features a green faux-gemstone decorative clasp, which, paired with the crisscross lacing structure, neatly cinches the waist area. The skirt hem uses multiple layers of lightweight, semi-transparent sheer fabric. When sitting down, the sheer skirt naturally spreads across the lawn, forming a beautifully complete geometric shape that echoes the green grass perfectly.

The white asymmetric shoe covers on my feet are also a standout feature of this styling, with their open-toe cut looking incredibly unique on the outdoor lawn. Although I had to be careful to avoid sharp branches while walking around, this shoe cover design greatly elongated my leg lines. Combined with the thigh strap ornaments, the overall visual proportions looked very graceful and elongated.

The lighting on the day of the shoot was fantastic, with sunlight filtering through the canopy to form beautiful, dappled shadows. The photographer and I mainly captured the effect of natural light filtering through the leaves to illuminate my face. Using a wide-aperture lens, the trees and green light spots in the background were softly blurred, preserving the forest's atmosphere while making the character, who is the main subject, stand out sharply. This is the exact beauty of Anime-style photography.

In the interactive shoot, I didn't make too many complex movements, aiming primarily to convey the character's natural, lively, and well-behaved nature. In the first shot, I held the plush slime to my chest with my body slightly angled—a pose that beautifully highlights the costume details and wrist guards. The second shot shows me holding the slime above my head, utilizing the depth of the composition to guide the viewer's gaze toward the large green eyes and the wig's color, while revealing my fingers and the layered straps on my arms.

In the subsequent shots, I placed the slime beside me and sat with both hands supporting myself on the ground, which clearly displays the layers of the skirt hem and its interaction with the grass blades on the ground. This set of poses didn't deliberately chase a cool or exaggerated vibe, wanting instead to recreate a relaxed state in a natural setting. Therefore, my facial expressions were kept as soft as possible, avoiding over-widening my eyes and instead using a natural, direct gaze to communicate, letting those behind the screen feel the character's signature warmth.

After the afternoon shoot wrapped up, although the outdoor process was highly physically demanding, causing quite a bit of sweat and getting grass clippings and dirt stuck to my collar and feet, this set of photos captured with natural light and environmental colors achieved exactly my expected result. Without harsh flashlights on my face or excessive skin-smoothing, preserving instead a touch of natural skin texture and the clothing's original folds, it actually made the Dendro Archon Nahida from Genshin Impact look far more vivid and alive.

Shooting outdoors indeed tests a coser's physical endurance and on-site mentality, but every time I see those split seconds captured by the camera, I feel all the hard work was completely worth it. This first-day experience at the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo was highly fulfilling, and I also exchanged many detailing and styling tips with other members of the Archon squad. With everyone cooperating across different settings, I will definitely continue trying more of these natural-style character look designs in the future. This makes for an amazing addition to my casual cosplay collection.
