[Marisa Kirisame cosplay] Touhou Project Autumn Outdoor Shoot with Momiji

This set of Marisa Kirisame cosplay photos is finally edited! The main idea was to capture a breezy feeling of patrolling on an autumn day with a big dog. This time, we used the Touhou Project setting, but drew more inspiration from Touhou fanon styles—pairing long pink hair with a dark blue witch dress. The pink ruffles in the middle layer of the skirt were adjusted several times, and the photographer and I ran across multiple camera spots to capture clean compositions without revealing backstage props or seams.

The shooting day was actually very crowded. To get clean shots, I had to manually edit out passersby one by one in post-production, which was quite a heavy editing workload. The wand in my hand and the broom underneath were separate props; to simulate a flying state, I stepped on a riser or jumped on one leg, needing breaks after just a few attempts. The white 'Momiji' dog, while just a regular pet, posed with great posture, quietly staying in place whenever I dashed toward the bushes or swapped props. A few times, to coax it into looking at the lens, I snacked on several biscuits to get its attention, making the arm holding the prop quite sore.

As for makeup and styling, the curls at the ends of the wig were freshly heat-styled, and the bun's position was adjusted multiple times to fit the hat's size. Wearing platform shoes with a long skirt hem made walking on the dirt paths in the woods rather tiring. The outfit has an abundance of lace that easily got ruffled by the wind, so the photographer had me block the wind with my body as much as possible, or shoot against the light to bring out the texture of the dress. For lighting, we chose around 4 PM—the warm late-afternoon sun cast a gorgeous rim light on my silhouette and outlined the dog with a golden edge. After finishing this shoot, my biggest takeaway is that working with animals in cosplay really requires immense patience: ensuring the dog doesn't run off while keeping my skirt and props in focus left little margin for error in post-processing. The discard rate was quite high, so being able to pick out these satisfying shots made all the sweat that day worth it. Overall, it was a delightful outdoor shoot experience; the contrast between Marisa's liveliness and Momiji's calm composure created a unique synergy. During retouching, I intentionally preserved the golden hues of the autumn leaves and the crisp blue of the sky. This photo set serves as a lovely record of my recent journey.
