This Studio shoot set is finally ready, and I'd like to take this opportunity to summarize and share the shooting experience, styling design, and costume/prop details in detail.
The shooting location was a studio with a heavy Industrial style and cyberpunk aesthetic. The wasteland elements in the environment were very rich, with black cables and metal pipes crisscrossing across wooden scaffolding, accented by black-and-yellow hazard warning tape around the perimeter. The most eye-catching feature of the venue was a vertical row of purplish-red neon tubes; their cool tones created a strong visual contrast against the vivid rose-red outfit, immensely elevating the visual tension and ambiance.
The overall outfit mainly features red, black, and white, balancing techwear utility with sweet charm. The top is a vibrant rose-red cropped cardigan with white buttons, trimmed with soft white faux-fur along the neckline and printed with typography lettering across the chest. The sleeves feature an off-the-shoulder black-and-white patchwork design, paired with a black choker featuring a lightning bolt pattern, looking very sharp and sleek. The bottom is paired with a lustrous black leather mini skirt with multi-tiered pleating, detailed with crisscross lacing around the midriff and golden star charms to add layered depth and maidenly cuteness.
For the legs, I chose semi-sheer black stockings and garter belts with metallic buckles—a crucial part of this Black tights outfit styling that both highlights leg contours through the stockings and enhances techwear aesthetics through the strap details. The footwear is a pair of chunky black-and-white mecha-style platform sneakers with circular white eyelet laces and fuzzy pom-poms at the collar, echoing the plush elements on the upper outfit.
The props this time were also quite a fun challenge. The oversized white plush tail has a three-dimensional form, detailed with black patchwork stitching and bold lettering; during the Studio shoot, it required careful positioning to look natural and not bulky. Along with the polearm weapon crowned with a twisted yellow ornament, the overall look achieved high completeness. The white pom-pom hair accessories and blonde hair with side braids were styled with great care, and the red colored contacts gave the gaze deeper intensity and spirit before the lens.
During the shoot, to present the outfit's optimal visual effect, the photographer and I coordinated seamlessly. Beyond standard full-body standing poses, we focused on seated postures to emphasize the cool, edgy attitude. Sitting on the wooden scaffolding with legs naturally crossed, gently resting hands on knees or resting the chin in hand, this posture accentuated the upper-body silhouette and waistline nicely. Meanwhile, shooting from a slightly lower angle perfectly captured the intricate details of the Black tights outfit and garter straps. We also tried half-body close-ups and tilted-head compositions against the neon lights, creating a languid yet slightly cool, aloof demeanor. The textural contrast between the Industrial style backdrop and the plush props was the standout highlight of this 2D cosplay shoot.
On-set lighting was crucial: top lighting and purplish-red rim ambient light striking the face and clothing avoided crushed black shadows while preserving ample ambiance. The glossy jacket fabric and leather skirt shimmered beautifully under the lights with wonderful texture.
Above are some thoughts and notes on this photoshoot, from styling to execution. Overall, the combination of props and the set made this endeavor deeply rewarding and full of fun.
