A tremendous amount of care went into recreating the fine details of this Marisa Kirisame cosplay outfit. From unboxing the costume to the final styling, numerous adjustments were made along the way. First and foremost is the iconic, oversized witch hat. The lace ruffles along the brim are extremely dense; to maintain three-dimensional fluffiness on camera, generous amounts of setting spray and interior support were required before shooting. The curved black tip and black lace bow were also reinforced to prevent them from losing shape while walking around.

The core of the outfit is a black-and-white dress. The white lace bustier on the upper bodice features multiple tiers of ruffles, paired with a black underbust corset that cinches the waist beautifully. What delighted me most was the skirt design: the outer deep blue fabric is printed with golden stars, perfectly fitting the magician aesthetic in Touhou Project. The inner layer consists of stacked tiers of cream-colored lace petticoats, allowing the rich volume to show completely during spins or dynamic movements. For footwear, the over-the-knee White stockings and buckled black platform leather shoes maintain the classic monochrome palette while adding a youthful, girlish touch.

The shooting location was an arched corridor built of stone masonry. The warm yellow stone textures provided a vintage feel that, paired with wrought-iron wall sconces, cultivated the atmosphere of a fantasy castle. To channel Marisa Kirisame's persona as both a book-borrowing thief and an energetic magician, the poses were designed with plenty of motion. In the first shot, standing slightly turned while holding the broom prop, and in the second shot, hopping on one leg while reaching a hand out in a blocking gesture, were both chosen to highlight her lively and delightfully mischievous side.

Speaking of props, this broom was crafted specifically for the shoot. The core is a long black shaft wrapped with black sheer ribbons for added opulence. A vintage lantern hangs near the top, while the bristles at the bottom feature alternating black and orange fibers to mimic a broom's tail. Finding the right balance in hand was key to striking natural yet commanding poses. Shooting in the corridor allowed the blend of natural daylight and wall sconces to remain pleasantly soft, capturing translucent skin tones without harsh artificial lighting.

As for the makeup, to match the character's blonde hair, the wig chosen was a bright golden blonde with gentle waves, with the ends styled into place. The eye makeup emphasized the eyeshadow contour, complemented by reddish-pink contact lenses to make the gaze look brighter and more focused. During the second photo's pose—balancing on one leg while coordinating facial expressions and finger placement—it took several attempts to capture the most candid, effortless instant. The entire shoot went smoothly, and I hope this photo set conveys Marisa's vibrant energy and passion for collecting magic grimoires.
