Just as the downpour was at its heaviest, I finished changing into this Hatsune Miku Dream Giver attire. Right when the Meizhou Xinchen convention wrapped up, a torrential rainstorm suddenly broke out outside. While everyone else was packing up, watching the rain intensify made me make up my mind: since I was already here and fully suited up, why not dash straight out for a rainy night location shoot? Looking at the finished frames now, I'm genuinely thrilled I made that call.

This look features Hatsune Miku's 'Dream Giver' concept, defined by an ethereal, pure blue-and-white palette. The aqua twintails stood out vividly against the night, paired with a mini skirt featuring a long, diaphanous gauze train. While stunning in photos, that train soaked up water like a sponge in the rain, easily clinging to the body whenever the wind picked up. To match the airy transcendence of the composition, we intentionally opted for a clear umbrella. At night, a transparent canopy acts as a natural softbox, working with the lights to trace clean, sharp silhouettes.

Posing in the rain is an intense physical test. The ground was slick with standing water, raindrops pelted my face and umbrella obscuring visibility, and I was stepping barefoot on ice-cold concrete while trying to project effortless, buoyant levitation. As the skirt grew heavier with water, flicking the train demanded serious core engagement. Photographer Yu was phenomenal throughout, guiding my head angles to catch the rain streaks glistening in the light. The entire shoot was a relentless rhythm of leaping and spinning to let the wind catch the sheer skirt.

During the first series of jumps, leaping into the air while holding the umbrella sent freezing splashes across my legs. Yet hearing the shutter click made every second worth it. The final pictures look dreamily aesthetic, but on set I was soaked through, with stray locks plastered to my face. To protect that 'Dream Giver' aura, I forced myself to ignore the cold and softened my gaze into the distance or toward the umbrella canopy. The hardest balance to strike was between the lighting and the falling rain: lights set too close blew out the highlights, while moving them too far left the subject underexposed. Yu kept darting across angles, while my role as the model was to lock my core and push every leap to full extension the moment the shutter fired.

The costume itself boasts rich details: white lace, neckline bows, and leg straps with leg warmers. In the rain, these white elements picked up gorgeous highlights against the aqua hair. The full set captures the spontaneity of convention hall shots while carrying an authentic tension absent in studio work. The downpour was unexpected, yet it truly made these images possible. I downed several cups of hot water once back inside; if faced with identical weather next time, I'd sprint straight back out without hesitation—unforgettable frames are forged in extreme elements.

Though wearing legwear akin to White stockings, being drenched in the rain brought out an organic, lifelike texture far more vibrant than anything shot indoors. I had to constantly regulate my breathing, as inhaling cold air induced shivers that disrupted poise. Heavy rain kept misting the camera lens, requiring constant wiping, while our lighting assistant braved the downpour holding lights aloft through genuine hardship. These photos are the hard-won fruit of everyone working in sync. The convention's rainy night felt pure magic, turning city lights and streaks of rain into a natural studio. Stepping out of the venue we were exhausted, yet pushing through to honor the styling paid off completely. If it rains at the next convention, I'll pack slip-resistant shoes and dive right back into creating art amidst raw nature.
