This set of Marisa Kirisame photos was shot in Yihai Town. The sunlight was abundant at that time, and the light spots filtering through the gaps in the leaves fell on my body, which perfectly highlighted the sense of layering of this black and white dress. Before heading out, I spent a long time matching the props. Marisa's iconic broom magic staff was custom-made by a prop master, and the black-and-white spiral pattern, along with the black bowtie and lace decorations at the end, echoed perfectly with the black and white lace on the skirt.

For the costume, to embody the feeling of the Black and White Magician, I chose a dress with a white base and a black corset-style waist. The volume of lace at the neckline and cuffs was quite generous, and the large-brimmed lace hat did block my vision a bit when worn, but it was great for striking poses. To enhance the puffiness of the skirt hem, a petticoat was worn underneath, and a long black lace train was attached to the back hem, making it very flowing when walking down the stone steps. The thick-soled black Mary Jane shoes paired with ruffled white socks not only added to the character's playful vibe but also provided excellent support when walking on the rugged stone surfaces.

Working with Wakaba this time was highly seamless. Since we chose to shoot in the afternoon, the light was slightly backlit combined with the tree leaves blocking it, requiring very precise control over exposure during shooting. We moved around the stone walls, archways, and vine-covered buildings of the town; for example, in the shot where I sat on the stone archway, it perfectly used the architectural frame to concentrate the visual focus, and the low-angle perspective also showcased the full outfit details beautifully. When holding the long-handled prop, I intentionally adjusted the bending angle of my arms to make Marisa's energetic yet casual temperament look more natural.

When shooting the theme of the Black and White Magician, I feel the most important thing is to capture that lazy yet playful feeling of the afternoon. Since the character setting is a straightforward and interesting black and white witch, one cannot strike poses that are too dignified; instead, some small hops or the action of raising a hand to pinch the hat brim are needed. The European garden style of Yihai Town just happened to bring the character from the 2D scene into a reality filled with a fairy-tale feel—not a rigid magic forest, but an atmosphere of getting lost on a realistic afternoon.

Although climbing up and down the town all day wearing layers of clothes and thick-soled shoes was indeed quite tiring, being able to recreate the magician passing through the forest in my mind made everything feel entirely worthwhile. This classic black and white color scheme version of Marisa heavily tested one's patience in terms of detail control, and I'm very glad this work can be presented so completely and with such a high-quality texture.
