[Gongsun Li Cosplay] Honor of Kings Frostfruit Pilgrimage Convention Photo: A Lively Moment Amidst Wind and Snow

"A tune of flying frost breaks calamity and pacifies heaven and earth." Sharing a set of convention photos taken recently at a large exhibition/transit hub, with special thanks to photographer @Jixi for patient snapshots. This set was completed in an indoor space with excellent lighting, where transparent glass curtain walls and crisscrossing structural lines formed a clean backdrop, allowing eyes to focus entirely on the red-and-white attire.

As for styling details, the entire costume uses a large area of white as the base color, supplemented by striking crimson sleeve cuffs and thin cord decorations, along with 3D golden flowers at the waist and red-and-gold headpiece accents. The red, white, and gold color scheme presents strong dimensionality under light. The giant white rabbit ears are very eye-catching, with golden roses and red cords at the base serving as great fixtures and accents. To fit the theme of flying frost, I specifically applied eye makeup with a sharp, crisp edge, paired with red contact lenses to magnify the sharpness in my gaze. The wig underwent specialized styling to present an airy dynamic flow, freezing a fluttery trajectory during snapshots paired with a single-leg support pose.

The pose attempted this time actually required a fair amount of body coordination. Standing on a single leg with one foot raised high, while simultaneously controlling the umbrella handle direction in my right hand and swinging my left hand back. To highlight the water ripple pattern on the skirt and trailing train fanning out in mid-air, I needed to consciously engage core strength to maintain full body balance. Fortunately, ground reflections on site added a lively texture to the entire frame. The photographer was extremely skilled at capturing action moments, perfectly preserving the harmony of strength and grace with that click.

From early preparation to producing on-site photos, the entire process was much more intricate than imagined. For example, the white rabbit ears on top needed internal support with custom skeletons to achieve an upright yet curved visual effect, combined with plush material so they wouldn't go limp during shooting. On the red-and-white color-blocked boots, pom-pom positioning had to be repeatedly checked beforehand to ensure they wouldn't cover up the red-and-white color-blocked boot front when lifting one leg. White costume fabric required drape while maintaining lightness, allowing the subtle water ripple patterns on the skirt and train to unfold naturally during jumps.

Regarding lighting coordination during the shoot, diffuse light penetrating from the indoor ceiling formed a natural softbox, keeping white clothing from overexposing while clearly capturing garment folds and red edge contours. The angle of the photographer's fill light on site was also meticulously set, subtly shaping cheek shadows to make facial features look more three-dimensional on camera. Added to minor noise reduction and floating snow grain accents in post-processing, the entire frame carried both real-world texture and fit the character's chilly, snow-covered setting.

In truth, taking convention photos with large action movements tests both physical energy and focus every time. The moment of a single-leg jump requires balancing facial expression, eye focus, and limb extension, where any slight mistake yields an unbalanced shot. Successfully capturing several well-executed final photos this time was entirely thanks to the photographer's precise guidance and burst-shooting rhythm between shutter clicks.

Gongsun Li as a character is inherently designed to be light and agile. The Frostfruit Pilgrimage design blends traditional elements with modern tailoring within the costume, and this shoot aimed to convey that contrast and harmony to the fullest. The red-and-white color palette offers strong visual impact, instantly boosting my confidence when wearing it. The entire process was not just documenting a look, but also another tacit collaboration with the photographer.
