CICF Day 3 convention photo return! I've finally gotten around to sharing this Castorice set. I had been looking forward to this coordinate ever since placing the custom commission, and slipping into it for real truly channeled an aura unique to the character herself. The pastel purple hue of the wig closely mirrors the original design; the blunt bangs and framing side-strands flatter facial contours wonderfully. To recreate that otherworldly, non-human aesthetic, elf ears were an absolute must (Elf ears cosplay)—putting them on instantly gave my facial features striking dimensional depth. The black butterfly hairpiece and the white floral lace base atop the crown were genuine finishing touches; though somewhat weighty, spending the whole day bouncing around the convention floor was totally worth it.
The deep blue fabric across the bodice boasts exquisite texture. The low-cut neckline paired with three-dimensional black blossoms and berry accents packs an intense visual punch. Truth be told, that line about 'power not belonging to oneself being far too massive' is no joke! Sculpting the silhouette to faithfully embody this character was indeed a challenge. To support the garment's tailoring, internal adjustments were made, though the character's innate charm was ultimately what pulled it together. The black cut-out choker is made of rigid materials—it fits snugly against the neck, though looking down requires care to avoid getting poked. The spiked edges along the gloves are razor-sharp, making me constantly wary of scratching myself while handling props—a literal rose with thorns in the most physical sense.
I have to give massive praise to my friend's film camera. Having grown accustomed to the instant feedback and tack-sharp clarity of digital photography, the unpredictability of film brought the thrilling fun of opening a mystery blind box. Ambient indoor lighting was tricky, yet the warm, hazy softness rendered by the film stock paired with the navy gown and violet locks created an unexpectedly vintage, fairytale mood in this Film style cosplay. While the focus isn't digitally razor-sharp, that gentle grain and softened edge roll-off perfectly tempered the character's chilly aloofness. Searching for the ideal angle within the tight indoor space to freeze a captivating gaze took quite some time; this final profile shot with my hand resting near my chest was actually taken while I was casually adjusting my posture, turning out remarkably organic.
The convention venue on Day 3 of the China International Comics Festival was packed to the brim. Taking a full lap through the hall in this coordinate drained my stamina bar completely. Exhausting as it was, meeting so many attendees who recognized the character and came over warmly for two-shots was wonderful. That shared passion is precisely the magic of offline conventions. Only this single frame has been edited so far, with close-ups and full-body shots still in the pipeline. This experience was truly special—not only a deeper character interpretation, but a marvelous creative encounter with film photography. Time to pack up and take off the makeup before returning to work tomorrow. Looking forward to our next convention reunion!
