The main difficulty in shooting Sparkle's collab skin lay in quickly finding the character's zone amidst the buzzing commotion of the anime convention. When preparing this red-and-black outfit, the lacing and lace detailing across the chest required repeated fine-tuning to find the right balance—keeping it secure while sculpting a crisp, flattering silhouette took considerable effort. The twin-tail wig features a red gradient at the ends, which easily tangles with the slightest large movement, requiring constant touch-ups with a pocket comb.
To match the character's aura and accentuate long leg lines, I opted for black fishnets paired with strappy high heels. Posing atop that black stepladder provided varied height, and the low-angle perspective truly flattered my body proportions; however, maintaining extended, suspended legs kept my thighs and calves completely taut, leaving my legs trembling when I finally stepped down.
Holding the playing cards required partially concealing my fingers to create a mischievous, mocking gesture, which—combined with the mask prop—made gaze control quite challenging. Photographer Che had precise command over light and shadow, using the overhead cool venue lighting alongside bounce boards to flawlessly capture the velvety texture of the red dress and the reflective sheen of the stockings, producing a cinematic feel. The last two photos were dynamic snapshots captured as the skirt billowed; a quick spin flared the dress completely open, yielding an effortless, kinetic beauty.
Despite running around the convention with so many props in high heels, capturing the character's blend of playful wit and unpredictable mystique made every bit of effort worthwhile. If given another opportunity to shoot Honkai: Star Rail themes, I would love to experiment with different emotional expressions—perhaps a quieter seated pose or a narrative-driven gesture using the cards. This shoot proved that great Anime convention cosplay demands not just fidelity, but also infusing the portrayal with one's personal flair.
