[Castorice cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail – Flower Shadow in the Cold Night of Omphalos

Having finished editing this set of photos, I feel as if I've walked out of the long hours of light and shadow in post-processing and returned to the cold night of Omphalos. There are actually quite a few details worth talking about regarding this white and purple flower fairy look and the design of the elf ears.

Let's start with the design of this costume. The outfit as a whole adopts a classic purple and white color-blocking scheme. The white bandeau design of the upper body, paired with a striking purple bow on the chest, visually raises the waistline and makes the proportions look great. The skirt has rich layers; the inner layer is a white pleated miniskirt, while the outer layer is draped with a wide purple overskirt. It does have some weight when worn, especially when raising arms or spinning around, requiring constant attention to maintaining a stable center of gravity. The white over-the-knee socks are a detail I really like; they feature a cutout lace-up structure on the side of the leg, adding some layers and breathability without destroying the overall pure white feel of the costume, so the lower body doesn't look too heavy. The white and purple shoes on the feet also echo the overall color scheme beautifully.

The wig, makeup, and styling also took a lot of thought. This light purple wig is actually not easy to manage, especially those faint glitters among the hair strands, which create a very fine reflective effect under the on-site lighting. To fit the setting of elf ears, I wore a pointed style, and for the makeup, I specially enhanced the pink-purple blending of the eyeshadow and eyeliner to make the gaze look softer. The flower crown on top of the head contains white, yellow, and purple flowers, and also incorporates a few black branch decorations, forming a nice echo with the bouquet in hand to prevent the overall color from being too monotonous.

The process of shooting this set of photos was also very interesting. The background at the venue was relatively cluttered, so the photographer chose a large aperture combined with a lighting style that dims the background. This high-contrast lighting is particularly suitable for this dreamy and ethereal look, allowing the character to stand out completely from the dark environment. In addition, the photo I chose as the cover (image 6) was also my most satisfying dynamic moment of the day. Although the action of standing and lifting the skirt looks simple, set off by the wide skirt hem, it can beautifully showcase this flowing yet cool temperament. To coordinate with this movement, I tried the angle several times, striving to make the fabric texture of the purple outer skirt present the optimal drape, and for the over-the-knee socks and the exposed skin to offer the most natural visual guidance.

As for the post-processing part, it actually didn't involve too much extreme reshaping, but was more about finely tuning the skin tone, wig highlights, and the texture of the silk parts. Especially for the light-receiving surface of the white fabric, I intentionally preserved the light and shadow transition of the raw photo to make it look like it has a realistic fabric sheen, instead of editing it into a flat, dead white piece. The blue-purple and pink accents in the bouquet part also make the screen colors more vivid. Under the tonal baseline of Omphalos, I think this combination of interwoven warm and cool tones fits the character's setting very well. Although this gear is tedious to wear, the process of shooting and generating photos kept me deeply immersed, recording my dedication and love for this look.
