I finally got to shoot the long-awaited pink Maid outfit look of Shimoe Koharu from Blue Archive. The wig was trimmed with fine layers of wispy strands, paired with a pink ring halo headpiece and black feather hair ornaments. Along with specially chosen pink-purple colored contacts, the makeup accentuated under-eye blush, creating strong dimensional depth in close-ups. The costume has abundant details: the fabric of the pink puff-sleeve top carries a subtle sheen, while the giant pink bow on the chest and the back lacing required careful positioning. The ruffled layers of the white lace apron also showed up vividly on camera.
The shoot took place at a themed shop packed with plush toys and cartoon posters. The pink ambiance here was an absolute match for this outfit. To capture flattering angles, I tried various poses. The first set utilized a wide-angle lens: holding freshly prepared waffles and drinks close to the camera created dynamic perspective distortion, delivering that distinct 2D anime tension. Later, switching back to a standard focal length, I sat at a table holding a little pink fork, pretending to enjoy dessert while capturing a few candid snacking moments. My personal favorite remains the standing full-body shot: lifting the edge of the apron with one hand and pointing toward the camera with the other, paired with white frilly socks and black Mary Jane shoes, maxing out the playful charm of the look.
The shooting process was actually quite tiring, having to maintain the shape of the skirt flare and prevent the wig from getting frizzy. To complement the colors of the chocolate sauce and rainbow gummies on the waffles, the lighting angle was adjusted multiple times. The photographer encouraged me to relax as much as possible and imagine myself as that energetic girl with Pink hair. Although the background inside the store was a bit cluttered, blurring it with a wide aperture turned the plushies into wonderful accents. In full-body shots, paying attention to leg extension was essential—slightly tiptoeing or turning sideways made the leg shape look much better on camera, and the pairing of White stockings with black leather shoes was also very eye-catching in the frame.
Overall, this cosplay experience was wonderful; bringing together the intricate costume details with the character's traits to recreate that lively yet slightly shy demeanor in a real-world setting left me thoroughly satisfied.
