This time, I shot a cosplay of Takanashi Hoshino and Misono Mika from Blue Archive. Both characters feature Pink hair, and to showcase the best visual results, I prepared two completely distinct looks. From trimming the short wig to styling the double buns, each wig underwent meticulous adjustments to shape face-framing sideburns and blunt bangs. For makeup, the most labor-intensive detail was the heterochromia—one golden eye and one blue eye—requiring careful attention when wearing them to ensure the gaze looked natural rather than stiff. The eye makeup was blended with reddish-toned eyeshadow, complemented by sweeping generous pink blush across the cheeks, making this 2D makeup look remarkably vibrant under outdoor natural light.
The first look was captured outdoors. A mint green jacket worn over a white camisole and ruffled shorts, paired with short Pink hair and flashing peace signs at the camera, delivered a lively, everyday casual mood. The second look moved poolside for a Swimsuit cosplay. Double buns adorned with crescent moon and floral hair accessories, changing into a white ruffled swimsuit under a semi-sheer short-sleeved cover-up, hugging a blue-and-white inflatable swim ring. Shooting near the water was undeniably challenging: not only did I have to watch out for moisture making the wig droop, but I also had to maintain a waterproof base makeup. Sunlight sparkled across the water's surface, which, combined with the swim ring prop, crafted a crisp summer coolness. The cartoon emoji sticker on the chest was added in post-processing for a playful touch.
In fact, while both characters canonically have Pink hair, their visual vibes are entirely distinct—one leans toward casual everyday life, while the other channels summer poolside vibes. Pink hair is actually quite unforgiving under harsh light, as direct sunlight makes cheek blush stand out intensely. From short hair to buns, and from casual loungewear to a Swimsuit cosplay, preparing these props and outfits took considerable time, but seeing the finished photos made every second worthwhile. I wonder which set you all prefer more?
