[Yao Cosplay] Dreamy Pale Blue at the Honor of Kings Anime Convention: Light Collision of Staff and Skirt Hem

Bringing this Honor of Kings Yao cosplay costume to the anime convention, the overall state turned out much better than expected. This shoot primarily focused on how the dreamy color scheme of pale blue and pure white performs under the on-site lights of the exhibition hall. The wig features a pale gold base dyed with a pale blue gradient, styled into double braids according to the character's traits, and adorned with multiple pale blue bows and white plush beast ears at the tips and buns. The crystal-textured antler hair accessory on top also added to the overall fantasy vibe.

Regarding the outfit, the tube top short dress uses a pearlescent fabric with an iridescent sheen. This material reflects a shimmering visual effect under the strong convention lights. Paired with layered white translucent tulle and pale blue water-ripple streamers, the overall skirt hem looks exceptionally fluffy and lightweight. The arms are adorned with pale blue satin ribbons and white plush arm pieces, and once paired with white tights and chunky open-toe high heels featuring bow elements, the overall proportion and completeness of the look became much clearer.

The massive staff prop prepared for this shoot was extremely eye-catching. The blue-and-white main frame combined a hollowed-out design of hearts, lollipops, and crowns, with blue-green transparent tassels and pearl strings draped from the bottom. Although carrying this prop around the exhibition hall was quite cumbersome and occasionally tripped me up, it is truly the soul of the entire look. The photographer suggested that I lean back or bend forward in front of the strong booth lights, allowing the staff and the tulle of the skirt to generate highly dynamic lines.

For the makeup, I paired the look with blue contact lenses and dotted fine glitters around my eyes. Set against the pale gold hair, it preserves the natural expressions of a personified beast character while blending in that unique, soft 2D feel. The shallow depth-of-field photography at the convention successfully blurred the trusses and crowds in the background, keeping the visual focus firmly locked on the character's styling and props. Although standing in high heels all day was exhausting and the prop was heavy, being able to restore the full texture of this character in such fine detail—from the hair accessories and props to the fabrics—makes all the effort feel completely worth it. This pure shooting experience is truly one of my biggest motivations for participating in conventions.
